This came up over post dinner drinks last night.

You are in a really nice restaurant, you select a bread roll and then the soup arrives. The dilemma here is; is it acceptable to dunk the roll in the soup, either whole or in chunks? We are finding that dunkers are in the majority however one of our friends maintains that dunking is very bad form.

Cheers.

I bet they also push peas onto the back of their fork with their knife too. Food is to be enjoyed. The French know how to enjoy food - they will dunk bread/break up bread into chunks/croutons .... so imo it's OK - if you want to enjoy your soup. Also tie a napkin round your neck ... so that you can get stuck in 8)
