Try your local authority for logs. I took a delivery this week from mine, They came round with a Land rover, complete with a hydraulic tilting rear hopper, filled with split hardwood logs.
Not sure of weight, but having stacked it in the woodshed, it takes up the same room as 2 and a half bulk bags full usually do. The cost - £45. Well chuffed. I'll post a pic up tomorrow.
Great buy. What council is that and who did you phone?
Local agricultural college is another good place.. chopped logs from the chainsaw course - £25 for a cubic metre..
South Ayrshire Council - Neighbourhood services department.
Local sawmill here. Used to be 5 quid a bag any size. Take along some building sand bags and fill up the car. Gone up this year to 10 quid a bag but still good value! Then find some neighbours cutting down some hardwood trees buy them a few drinks and leave wood to mature.
Wow, I'm in south Ayrshire too so i'll give them a try. Thanks Nobeer.
