Had a week in Europe and a bit off a long journey home, but today I was too knackered for much movement never mind the ride today. Anyone else get this?
Yes! Travelling can be really tiring.
I presume this is some kind of brexit joke or suck it up princess post? You're not being serious are you?
Not sure what you mean? Nothing to do with Brexit. And I'm not a princess.
Your point about being tired, @Caher, I totally get. I think the idea that you referred to being in “Europe” as opposed to being on the Continent, made it sound like you were making a bit of a Brexity point.
To be fair, I was always picking up on people who said “Europe” instead of “the Continent” long before Brexit was even a twinkle in anyone’s eye.
But yeah, travel can be ridiculously tiring, and I think we just take it for granted because it has been so easy for us these last 20 years or so.
We're also on the continent of Europe, so 'on the continent' is also a bit europhobic. It's really 'mainland Europe'.
Never saw it that way. I have two passports so tend to not make the distinction. Used to spend my student holidays working on uncles' and cousins building sites and not used to intensive travel as I've done the last few weeks.
When the clocks change you get a mini-jetlag response. It's the same when you go to Europe and back for work but you get it twice and the start and end of the trip. Your body reacts the same way.
FWIW, I frequently travel and short 2-3day trips to Europe are more knackering than UK trips
We’re also on the continent of Europe, so ‘on the continent’ is also a bit europhobic. It’s really ‘mainland Europe’.
The continent is Eurasia, geographically.
I knew what you meant and yes it's tiring. I think the whole chuffing about with airports and taxis and endless queues for the luggage drop, security, boarding passes, luggage collection, passports, car park bus etc. Just does you in. On top of work trips rarely having much off duty time just leaves you drained.
Yes I get it, I travel down south a few times a month into London and then out (door to door it’s 4-5 each way, I get the train and back in a day, out for 15-16 hours) mentally physically drained.
I can feel really lethargic for a few days after I find a slow paced ride including cafe stop and a play on the jumps in the woods can really help, keep the HR low and stop and chat..
I can’t imagine a roadie 100-160km helps, I saw loads out yesterday on saddleworth moor and so few of them smile, mainly a pained expression glance or nod
