Frames look really nicely designed. I know motor manufacturers have an abominable history with bikes, but are these really any good?

You realise BMW employ more people in the UK than the manufacturers you mentioned combined, many times over, including at "British" icons Mini and Rolls Royce.

Yeah but thats like saying that Tata should be on every box of tea in the supermarket; as they effectively own the major UK tea brands.

Bad FTFY. The Olympics in 2012 are the London Olympics. London, I believe, is in England. HTH

Would this be the procession that went to Derry and also to Dublin, in addition to Orkney, Shetland etc. I am sure the Irish would like to know they are in England.

Most probably, yes. But the fact of the matter is the Olympics are awarded to a city. That city is London, England.

Where they choose to wander with a bit of fire on a stick is irrelevant.

So what are the Welsh, Scots, and Irish, doing gallivanting all over their countries with our Olympic Torch then ?

Cheeky gits.

EDIT : My in-depth research into where the Olympic Torch has traveled was clearly too time consuming.

And whilst we're being pedantic, neither Guernsey / Jersey, nor the IoM are in the UK at all ๐Ÿ™‚

It's not an English procession, it's the the Olympic outreach programme (or somesuch nonsense) which serves to appease those who feel left out of the real event. Which is anyone outside of London and it's periphery. Or Weymouth.

It is the London Olympics, but the procession is not only in England therefore it is not an ENGLISH or to follow your logic, a LONDON procession.

All in thier respective bearded owners garages being fettled with after a small damp patch arrived over night, causing a random non starting issue.

Yeah, being honest, they are a bit like that lol! The foreign owners have done magic things to land rover/jaguar/et al

Best thing about the torch procession is the fact they've been anal about cleaning/ repairing/ tarting up the roads and surrounding features. No idea where the money appeared from to do it, but it has made my commute to work on road bike much much less dodgy (potholes that would put a decent MTB through its paces).

The simple fack of the matter is that BMW PAID (MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONEY) to have their cars driven at pretty much EVERYTHING and ANYTHING that involves a car and is official to the Olympics !
I work for JLR in the R & D centre in Coventry, and when we found out about BMW being the official cars we where pretty annoyed that JLR products wearnt being used! so I asked my Director and was told that JLR simply couldn't justify the huge expense.... As in 10's of millions of pounds ! that the Olympic car sponsor would have to stump up.
Its much better invested in new products such as the F Type. ( blatant plug to keep me in mortgage payments lol)

And I have to say I agree with the company's standpoint, the Olympics are just a massive marketing exercise now, asked up by a supporting crew of elite athletes that dra the punters in to get bombarded with dvertising.... I'm not feeling too Olympic today, bah humbug!

London may be in England but, until wee Alex gets his way, I think it's the British capital. England not having a parliment / assembly / etc doesn't really have a capital does it? Is it even a country really or just a region of Britain?

Said the Glasgow boy, living in Yorkshire these last 20 years, most of them very happily settled with a wonderful english lass. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Maybe we should pull all the Welsh, Scots and NI athletes out of [s]GB[/s] English squad then...

Don't let us stop you.

Although you couldn't pull the Welsh out. They're not a country in their own right but a dominion of England.

NI is part of the UK, not part of GB. It's "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". ๐Ÿ˜€
