Ladies Please love me I'm so new man and offended by this thread PLEASE LOVE ME.. PLEASE!!! I will never ever say anything which may be deemed even the slightest bit offensive to anyone ever I promise.

I don't have a problem with you disagreeing with me, that's life and the fact that I'm right and you're wrong is neither here nor there. But why the juvenile name-calling?

Who mentioned your name? I didn't call you anything, I poked fun at the P.C. mentality of some posts. Which, is different to name calling, as this by definition involves the calling of a name!

And thanks for proving my point about women posting stuff to fit in to the laddish culture here: 'Hats off to Mrs Flash' indeed. Did you mean 'hats'?

No I meant 'thumbs up' which is exactly what I posted. I didn't mention Hats anywhwere.

Am I the only person who has noticed the unfortunate resemblance to the letter "i" struck by the lovely recently sold and extremely talented Footballer near the top of this thread??? 8)

Crazant - Who is that?

Does it say something about the average abuser of the chat forum that we can't even look at pictures of attractive sportsmen and women without starting an arguement. FFS it's friday. Go and have a nice cup of tea and a biscuit and calm down.

*i would have posted a pic but can't access any webpic sites from work*

I’m more then a little perturbed by the idea of male contributors arguing on the behalf of female contributors, on the grounds that they are too timid or reluctant to participate in a robust debate. This, I feel, is equally if not a more deeming attitude to the supposed objectification of the female form. It smacks of a “you sit there dear, I’ll sort this out for you” kind of thinking

I'm not doing that, I'm arguing that it's threads like this that reduce female participation on this site and make it the slightly sad, FHM-ish bastion of {abusive language removed} online behaviour that it is, which is slightly different. It would help if you could communicate in something approaching comprehensible English by the way 😉

{It would also help if you could tone your language down BWD - Mod}

Hum. I enjoy looking at pictures of Liz Hatch, she's lovely. But I don't think I'd want to do it while there were actual girls in the room particularly. Likewise I don't sit in bars with girls checking out other girls as they walk past. 🙂

Anyway, here's Dean Downing, Velocipe Racing-ist (I almost typed "racist", but that's not right...)

BWD –In all honesty my views are not that different to yours, although I am concerned that society is increasingly allowing sexist attitudes towards men to go unchecked.
My point is that as a male do you really have the right or authority to defend a female argument, and that in doing so you are equally guilty of demeaning women as those of us admiring the female form. To have true equality the only true defence has to come from a women, that they choice not to comment, for what ever reason, is down to them
(sorry for be incomprehensible before but lost in an academic writing hell at the moment)

Breakneck - that's fine, but it assumes there are a lot of women who can be bothered to challenge A&A, rather than just going somewhere else. Is it your view that if women leave STW rather than posting their objections on here that BWD cannot then express the views he has been putting forward? 🙂

[i]slightly sad[/?] We're on an internet forum ffs. Can't get much sadder than that. Apart from, of course whinging on and f%$*ing on about what other people do on an internet forum.

My point is that as a male do you really have the right or authority to defend a female argument

I think I see where you're coming from (or should I say "there from whence you are coming") but I had this thing with a couple of mates in a pub (it was harmless enough banter by the way) recently, where I pulled them up on a particularly sexist comment. There weren't any women around but I just thought what they'd said was a bit neanderthal. Now I wasn't being a raving member of the PC brigade (whatever that is) but just thought they needed reminding that just because there aren't any women around, it doesn't automatically give them the right to be misogynistic.

Likewise, if someone made a racist comment in a pub, I'd like to think I'd pull him or her up on it...unless he was a 6 foot tall and tough looking skinhead in which case, I'd be staring at my feet (ashamedly).

If you have a look at TriTalk, a site which is pretty evenly split between the sexes, they too have a long running thread of A&A (a male one and a female one). They don't seem to suffer from any reduction in female participation due to the scantily clad male and female form being appreciated. Your arguement is flawed mr BWD.

Breakneckspeed - dont feel offended by BWD comment that you dont use comprehensible English, I understood what you were saying no problem.

And unlike BWD I am going to sit back and admire the last three pages of A&A before the ride home, what a great way to finish the working week. I hope I see some female cyclists on way home and not just the normal 20 or so males I normally see, shame.

BWD - I'm goign to keep count of all the female cyslists I see over the next week and report back to you next friday with numbers, watch this space. Riding on saturday and sunday so I might have to use my toes too. I hope the figure is high but I reckon its going to be the same kind of ratio of men to women who post on STW.

I hate, and I mean absolutely without equivication hate having Thought Police in my life.

If I want to look at a person on or off line I will. If by so doing I feel that it may offend, or I subsequently become aware that my behaviour is offending someone, then I will make a value judgement as to how to deal with it dependant upon the prevailing circumstances at the time. I really don't need someone else poking their nose in, as all to frequently happens nowadays.

BWD that means you, and currently I am not aware of anyone, you apart who is offended by my actions. My value judgement therefore is to totally ignore what you have to say, as I don't feel it has any relevance to me or to those whom my actions may effect. By all means anyone who is genuinely offended by my viewing of this thread please let me know, so I can consider it.

In the meantime back to glopping......

....if the thread would stay within remit then it's not too bad, but it took what, 4 posts, to revert to the usual spaff-a-thon

In deference to the above accusation that pics are becoming too FHM, I apologise for posting a pic of the delightful Ms Hollywood in a shot, which she has sanctioned for press and pr use, where she is exiting a swimming pool. I shall endeavour to find a much less flattering one of her all hot and bothered on the Hockey field. I am sure I would much prefer a nice pic of me red faced, sweating and out of breath "60 minutes in" rather than one that makes me look nice.

Off to find my hairshirt.
