The mrs has been on about getting a greenhouse for ages. She wants one 10 x 8 and they're quite expensive and none seem to be coming up second hand locally.
So, i'm thinking that building one might be an option. I've been trawlling the web for ideas but was wondering if any of the stwers have done this, (especially as you're all so good at knocking up sheds and log stores) so thoughts and pics would be good.

cheers

Murr on here is your man if you are in Fife. He helped me restore ours after part of it collapsed under the weight of snow a couple of years ago. The remaining parts will be this summers restoration project.

Having, last year, costed up a 8' x 6' greenhouse, using western red cedar for durability, I can categorically say that buying a complete kit is cheaper, but I was costing some of my time into the equation.

If you're a DIY'er, then you needn't cost any of your time into it and it will be less marginal.

The end result was an aluminium framed greenhouse, that still took a good few of days to create a ring beam, lay a brick plinth, put up, glaze and fit the various potting benches, shelves, auto-vents, blinds, guttering, water butt and part pave inside. I was surprised at the amount of work involved. Nice though. It was one of these...
