something in nature

Sponges - not bath sponges - living sea sponges - apparently you can stick them in a blender and all the bits will re-organise themselves. Like in terminator 2

For something a bit more philosophical:

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

- Genesis 3:19

the chicken obviously. or the egg. But it has to be a chicken egg - so chicken, or a primitive chicken-like common ancestor, or its egg.

Is true, but the episode of Spongebob where they did was never shown on grounds of deeply traumatising the test audience, of 6 yr olds.

"Sponges are also the earliest sexual reproducers; most are hermaphroditic, producing both eggs and sperm, which they release into the water. The sperm drift along until they find their way into the tunnels and caves of another sponge. But the sponge has other reproductive options. If you push one through a sieve, breaking free its individual cells, these cells will drift until they find each other, then stick together and create an exact genetic duplicate of the parent. "

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmD4Y8aStZ0

and then nothing to actually prove the theory...
