Trump wants his 1936 Olympics so he can strut about

The Olympics are in LA in 2028. He’ll still be hanging on to the Presidency then.

I am gutted for the Scotland fans who've waited a long time for this opportunity and who are now being priced out of the tournament.

I reckon if ticket sales for the Scotland games are poor, they will start cutting the prices just ahead of the tournament, or even sell the tickets locally at a discount to 'locals' at the last minute, so it might be worth heading out there.

THIEFA. Elite sport for the elite, us chumps can go and watch the county pickle ball preliminary qualifiers down at the Salvation Army, with a styrofoam cup of bovril.

Also there's dynamic pricing involved. How the **** has that ever even become a thing?

Because FIFA, as corrupt and grasping as they are, thought they’d look to Ticketmaster as the model for selling tickets to games

Well at least we know how naive we were that when we we looked at the last World Cup and thought ‘we’ll it can’t get any worse than this”….

Oh, it can….

Far, far worse

I’m happy to boycott the whole thing but then I never watch international football anyway, because it’s shite, so that’s hardly sticking it to the man

I'll just watch it on TV as I won't need a cavity search or face uncomfortable questions about my tick-tock dancing.

They’re just reporting on Five Live that due to the pricing for matches (£600 a ticket for a group game) that no actual fans are planning on going, so the stadiums are going to be half-empty for some games and stuffed with corporate hospitality for the bigger games.

Well done FIFA!

The World Cup is an abomination but let's not pretend EPL clubs are all owned and run by ethical billionaires.

I don’t think anyone’s saying that. It’s a festival of sportswashers and shysters. It doesn’t cost 600 quid to go and watch an EPL game though

I think we need to check out your Tik Tok dancing and then we'll decide how uncomfortable the questions should be.

According to AI the average price of an EPL ticket is £150 which is still a ridiculous price.  A World Cup final ticket is not comparable with that, compare them with prices for the Super Bowl or big NBA matches or even tickets for Oasis or Taylor Swift etc.  events that don't happen every second week.  My  comment wasn't aimed at ticket prices but just the hypocrisy, you have to go pretty far down the football ladder to find little or no corruption.

So, will Salah be the water carrier at Brighton?

I think he’s still on the naughty step, then off to AFCON, then straight to Saudi

I think this weekend we see what type of manager Slot is - he left him out in midweek, arguably if he's back in it shows weakness on his side.

when a manager has to negotiate with his own player as to whether that player might want a game at the weekend it’s game over.  I would politely ask the player not to return to the dressing room after his international break.  It’s not as though his form this season has made him indispensable.

Bar Ekitike all the forwards have been poor. I’d chuck him on for 5 mins at the end, let him get a send off then flog him to Saudi, and try and spend the proceeds more wisely than the summer splurge.

Some Watty level cynicism here, I particularly like the line ‘Wrexham is part of the same process that is happening everywhere, the new model of US sports capitalism that views this industry as an under-leveraged global entertainment product ripe for the streaming age’.

TBF, they've had plenty of time to save up since the last one 😉

Two articles in less than a week in the Guardian means we have definitely arrived.  6 years ago we were bottom of the National League so I'm enjoying every second of this mad journey.  Watford at home today and I managed to snag a ticket on resale last night.

Slot bottled it then? And sounded. pathetically, almost apologetic to Salah

So now every Liverpool player knows exactly where the power lies, and it’s not with the manager.

Yes but didn't they only have 13 fit outfield players? I'd say Slot has just being pragmatic.

No apology from Salah. He just slated the manager and the club and waltzed straight back into the squad.

Any authority Slot had has just left the building.

Welcome to the Manchester United school of the instantly replaceable caretaker manager, there only at the whim of the players.

That’s international football. It’s pointless and irrelevant, so different rules apply.

He tried the same at United and look how that worked out for him

Anyway… looks like this North East derby should be a spicy affair! Perfect viewing for a grey and wet Sunday afternoon. I’m expecting lots of crunching challenges, lots of cards and just general handbags. Always the best games to watch

Quite enjoying watching the mackems try to blow this up into some sort of life and death nonsense. It's a football match, get over it. Apparently they're not even going to put the word 'Newcastle' on the scoreboard. Makes a change from redecorating the bar in the away end I guess. Pathetic.

Spurs just got the ‘playing it out from the back’ award for this season 😂

… and while we’re on the subject of inexplicable defensive decisions… what on earth was Woltemade thinking?!

I got the feeling Salah got his final game at Anfield and will not return after his international duties. No heroic send off, just thanks and goodbye

Nice to see the people of Sunderland enjoy their moment. They have precious little else to feel good about.

Well done to the Buddies, Celtic lose another cup final.  Wilfred Nancy is going to know what pressure is now.

Decent point for Leeds. Terrible game, could have been three but with their home record and our away we'll take it. DCL can head a ball btw.

Wait……how are Bournemouth 15th??!! They’re decent. Mid table seems to go from fourth to 17th!

The table is mental this season! Get 3 points and you move up 5 or 6 places.

They might be in luck tonight. We’ll have to see which United turn up. You just never know.We could go 5th and level on points with Chelsea with a win tonight, so no doubt we’ll balls that up. Like you said… Bournemouth are a decent squad

That was absolutely nuts! 😳

If Giroud gets this excited about a 4-4 game like that, I hope they never get him in for any nil nil draws. Has anyone checked for a pulse?

I don’t think anyone would dispute that Dan Burn is obviously absolutely nails, but he tried to play on at the weekend with broken ribs and a punctured lung 😳

Bert Trautmann played on after being hanged or something. Most of the pub team I played with at the end of my footie days had strange headaches on a Sunday morning.
