Not watching I'm afraid but will later - at a gig. Is Robbie Williams the England manager?

Might still rescue a defeat from the jaws of victory

Has a team ever thrown away a 4 nil lead in knockout tournament football? I can’t think of a time in the modern era, but of course it will be England who manage it. What a bizarre team we’ve got!

Not a single card either. Great scenes at the end. Well done to England and fair plac e to France for making it a hell of a good game (after they woke up)

Yes.

Reading went 4-0 up against Arsenal and ended up losing 7-5

Spurs being 3 up against Man Utd then losing 5-3 is right up there

I'm not sure what we really learn from that, but as a diverting kickabout it was fun.

I like to try to understand the game, and it shows up a few things that possibly the casual watcher won't see and as a result, it might make Tuchel's job and the fallout from Weds that bit harder. Specifically, why didn't we play like that in the second half against Argentina?

It wasn't that the teams couldn't be bothered but defending is hard work, always concentrating, making covering runs and jumping out of the line to put pressure on the ball, stretching all you have to make last ditch blocks, etc. As soon as that drops by 5-10%, then gaps appear and passing lines open up that don't in a 'proper' game. And chances come with it, there were 10 goals and countless others. As teams get tired later in games then this also happens to an extent but the attackers are also knackered. This is where our strength in depth could have exercised Argentina's back line with fresh runners more but we wouldn't have suddenly scored another 3 imho. It's also why a disciplined and organised defence is so hard to play against - how come we scored 6 against France when we struggled against DRC and Ghana and.....

And the lack of fouls and cards. Very few tactical fouls, so many players running past where a nudge or ankle tap would have happened. There were far fewer fouls in the game compared to the semi, particularly when you account the odd one that England even failed in the last quarter to disrupt Argentina by constantly fouling them out of a rhythm. Just adds to my idea that reducing that stop-start shithousery would greatly improve the game overall.

So - fun, but not hugely useful in the grand scheme. And definitely don't expect similar tonight.

Certainly the first time I have ever enjoyed a "losers final" England deserved the win.

I fell asleep when we were 3-0 up - did I miss anything?

(I'd ridden 90 miles in my defence, the later kick off was always going to beat me)

That was a brilliant second half after the hairdryer had been administered. When the final whistle went, the camera panned to Glenn Hoddle and the look on his face said “WTF just happened?!!” 😂

Fix! Tuchel was discussing the Golden Boot with Mbappe in the tunnel at half time 😉 .  And when has a final ever lived up to the hype? I’m expecting a game worse than the England first half.

Do we know if the orange chimp is going to be there tonight and awarding the trophy? He’s already demonstrated his expert grasp of the beautiful game…

He sure is, although I'm sure he'll find a reason not hand it over if Spain win

My head says Spain but a part of my heart for Messi says Argentina. Spain 2-1.

I want to see Spain win because the orange shitgibbon is awarding the trophy and he hates the Spanish and loves the far right nutter that runs Argentina

And the Argentine shithousery is ridiculous

How expletive long is this half time?

Sod off with your sing song theatrics and play the game!

This is like watching a mid-table Championship game at the end of the season where neither side has got anything to play for and are already on the beach

What's with the covering your month being against the rules?

Why?

It's a game if chess. Argentina have disrupted Spain's normal passing game. The sending off might decide the game. Spain need to go for it now

Its because people are covering their mouths to say racist things to the opposition

Argentina have been playing for pens since kick off. Of the match, not extra time. Same old shithousery.

Disappointing really, given the talent they have.

I’ve watched better games of still half-pissed pub sides on a Sunday morning

Played in a lot of those when into my 40s. Luckily our home ground had bushes for upset tummys.

Never had a tram deserved to lose as much as Argentina.

So I suspect they'll win.
