'I'm not racist but...'
Well actually you are.
Heard it twice from them in the last week.
Friend becomes acquaintance.
What came next?
yes AWFUL
It does show progress though, even a racist knows to pretend they are not one.
Does definitely depend what comes next, there's loads of stuff someone could be assuming would be taken as racist but clearly isnt.
How can I be a racist? Some of my best friends are.....
I met a black sailor in Plymouth who was concerned about immigration from eastern Europe
1st time, 'you have to be careful here in summer it's like Saudi Arabia with so many Arabs' - this was as a family walked past, wife wearing a headscarf, kids all cheerful and that.
2nd time, 'be careful, the dark guys will have your wallet when you're on the trams' - thing is I have quite a tan now, if I catch myself stealing my own wallet I'll be quite cross. Or maybe I will automatically find myself stealing from some pale Swiss bloke.
I think 'racism' is a subject around which there is still so much ignorance it is hard to believe. For example it is pretty well understood that legislation is only a small part of the answer to this ans so must be taken as a starting point. But sadly how many people don't even realise how badly they abuse even the most basic legal requirements - even enlightened folks who never say "I'm not a racist but . . ."
Someone in Swissland say that? They're a bit er.. conservative, shall we say.. 🙁
I thought this was going to be "... and god loves us all."
or "I love you"
funny enough they have mentioned god before
Don't you need to be just a little bit racist yourself to be aware of racism?
Everybody's racist to some degree. True fact.
I'm not racist but you have to be careful about the stuck up posh white pricks in West Oxfordshire... one of them, in particular, has got a bit of power and's now acting like he flipping owns the place.
I am racist.
All races are.
Don't you need to be just a little bit racist yourself to be aware of racism?
How does that work then?
Everybody's racist to some degree. True fact.
Not actually true.
Everybody is prejudiced against others to some degree, now that is undoubtedly true.
Don't you need to be just a little bit racist yourself to be aware of racism?
Not really, being foreign will usually suffice

Erm, and that's a problem how, exactly? Are Black people not allowed to be concerned about immigration from Eastern Yerp?
i think it was a cameronism from the last g.e wasn't it ?
Erm, and that's a problem how?
Well you know! They come over here, take out jobs, take our prejudices, take our bigotry.
Maybe he was just trying to assimilate.
Everybody's racist to some degree. True fact.
I agree, if that degree is in the range of "very racist" to "not racist at all"
I reckon 2 pages and this will be closed.
I met an Asian gentlemen in Blackpool who was concerned about the benefits culture

I'm not homophobic but I thought this was going to be the opening line to a certain kind of joke 😉
Actually, when they said it I thought, 'typical Swiss-German', so now I'm a racist. Maybe it's because I'm Irish. I'm confused.

yes, and....
Recently it seems to me that 'Casual' racism seems to be more an more common. It seems that the majority of people object to racism on an overt / institutional level, yet turn a blind eye to using certain words in a closed group of friends. I have observed this with quite a few social groups.
I don't like some people ...
But then everyone is a maggot.
One race, Human race.
I'm not racist as I've done most races and they were all great and equal 😈
Blackpoolist
Frankenstein - MemberOne race, Human race.
All maggots! Nothing but maggots! Parasites!
Someone please nuke the maggots ... yes press the button.
Don't know about rascist, however I am a little bit Country. But not very Rock'n'roll.
Last week, I met a devout Muslim baker, who told me that people going on strike in this economic climate were something they were very worried about.
Last week, I met a Flemish couple, who told me that the gays sexually assaulted a small child and also stole their sweets.
Last week, I met an Indian policeman, who told me that chavs got a free house from the council.
I met someone in a wheelchair who was concerned about abuse of the benefits system.
I think racism should be renamed anticulturalism.
I have no problem with decent people of any background, I have a problem with negative cultures that clash with mine.
Skin colour has nothing to do with it as far as im concerned.
I met a girl from Dundee that had the most finest bum cheeks.
One race, Human race.

OK, confirmed by even the most un-PC of people 🙂
I met a hereditary peer who was concerned about the unelected organisations dictating to the people.
Is it racist for people of chinese origin to refer to white people as ghosts?
