Can't find it. Help!

Went to my doc last week and told her I wanted a pump. Bloods taken and asked for a week of BGL and went back today. Hba1c was 8.1, liver function fine, cholesterol fine. Agreed to do the referral to endocrine centre for a pump. Pretty excited, been on insulin since dx 14 odd years ago be interesting to see if I get on with a pump!

Sweet thanks man.

Any issues or niggles or still going OK. Does your pump also do your BGL too?

I'm very happy with the pump and wouldn't be without it now. Had an Hba1c 2 months after starting and I got a 6.6 😀

I use an Acc-Check Combo and the meter links to the pump. Just had a look at my recent readings and in the last 7 days I had the following

=>7 mmol/l 21%
5-6.9 mmol/l 58%
4-4.9 mmol/l 21%
=<3.9 mmol/l 0%

I'm very pleased with this!

My meter is set up so that my target range is 5 to 7 mmol/l, so when it works out the insulin dosage it's always aiming to get me to 6 mmol/l. Using the Basal Bosal regime and insulin pens, I could never achieve this - I'd by hypoing all over the place.

One of the great things (there are a few!) is reducing background (Basal) insulin. For instance, I drop it to 50% before going out on bike. That, I find, generally keeps me on an even level without having to eat emergency carbs.

For my experience starting & using a pump, have a look at my blog http://inpumpwetrust.blogspot.co.uk/

Got the Accu-Chek Spirit combo. Since Wednesday. Mine's set up to target between 4 and 8 and so far it's doing OK. Just doing the carb counting thing for my bolus and seems reasonably accurate.

Went out on the bike yesterday. Have it set up for excercise and sick days (-50% excercise and 130% in 4 hour blocks for sickness).

After nearly 20 years of injecting it's very strange to not have to.

Changed my first cannula last night. Seems quite easy but the old site has a small lump which I hope will go.
