What a total pile of brown stuff.
Turned over at the 'your a wild man scene' so I probably missed the bit were one of them knocks out Saddam Huisein with one punch before lighting up a fat cigar.
yea, watched it a while ago, wasn't particularly interesting in the same way that Jarhed wasn't particularly interesting. Just a bit boring and trying to be 'deep'. :/

You did, shame as it was very well scripted. Even his mustache looked authentic 😉
I caught about 20 minutes of it-simply awful!
You don't watch many American war films do you, what were you expeting, Redacted?
I really enjoyed it, but then I'm sophisticated and highly educated so I can understand why others struggle.
It's terrific. And doesn't try to be 'deep'.
I thought it was alright - it was massively over-rated/hyped IMO though.
Highly over rated. Has some good stuff in it, ruined mainly by the ending imo.
I really liked it. It doesn't glamourise war, it's not abut special effects...I like it for the characters, their interactions and good acting, cinematography and script that revelas those characters - how they experience war, how they grow, how they struggle, how their experiences change them.
Got some really dramatic bits...when 'Blaster 1' pulls on the det chord and discovers 6 shells all wired in as the emerge from the rubble....bet I wasn't the only viewer thinking 'Oh my'. I was gripped....and I've seen it loads as I've got the blu-ray!
I was confused as to who or what they were. They seemed to be a group of three men fighting the war single handed. I expected the drama to come from the act of defusing bombs. I kept thinking it was Independance Day with Will Smith.
it is amazing
'twas a bit gash.
It was alright. The bit with the sniper rifles was good.
one of the most shit films EVER.
Agree really bad. Felt no empathy for any of the characters. Stopped watching after the sniper scene which was completely unbelievable.
Guy sees sniper creeping up behind them and just stands there asking to be shot. After about what seems like 5 mins he finally decides to warn the rest of them then lets fly at extreme range again whilst standing up and miraculously kills the sniper.
it was ok but totally overrated,
I think it's pretty good.
no way was it worth the hype it got, but it's still a good film.
the storyline flits and drifts a bit and it's more of snapshot than a story with a beginning and an end, but it's well acted, the cinematography is good and it has some really tense moments.
oldgit - Member .... I kept thinking it was Independance (sic) Day with Will Smith.
ha ha
amazing .... independence day ....ha ha ...will smith. FFS !!
(Hurt Locker .its only been out 3 years , whats your next post, Saving Private Ryan)
It did get quite widespread critical acclaim, ok it was up against Avitar for awards so not surprising it won, but a good review is still a good review.
It is one of the most disappointing and shit films I've seen in ages.
I'd have thought you'd struggle to make such a crap film out of IED disposal guys in Iraq but clearly not.
...so I´m probably the only one that thinks avatar was a bit rubbish too
so I´m probably the only one that thinks avatar was a bit rubbish too
Don't worry you're not alone.
Avatar = Pocohontas in space meets a David Attenborough nature programme..
...so I´m probably the only one that thinks avatar was a bit rubbish too
Oh I doubt it - awful awful film.
I saw hurt locker for the first time last night, the story seemed somewhat disjointed. I put that down to it being the tv edit? Was ok for a sat night film
I fell asleep when I watched it on DVD a few months ago - glad it is not just me getting old
Saw it when it came out at the cinema and watched it again last night, great film.
There is no plot as such, its simply about the mentality/psyche of people in stressful situations and how they react....in that group of three you have the black chap who is Mr Sensible, the bomb disposal guy who is a thrill seeker and the nervous one...i like the scene where the main character is back at home in the supermarket but cant adjust to normal life again...that is what the film is about, the people who put themselves forward for yet another tour of duty when they could be somewhere else.

I don't go to the cinema or rent/buy DVDs. I think Titanic was the last film I saw at the cinema, and not out of choice.
There were too many factual inaccuracies for me to enjoy it properly. 😛
It did get quite widespread critical acclaim
The ability of a film to win Academy awards is no indication of a good film, usually the opposite in fact.
just watching this now. (recorded on digibox thing)
It's not that bad, quite enjoying it. nice to see the bigger name actors get bumped early on/with little screen time
to me 2 things which don't quite work, the iraqi snipers being bang on target over 850m with open sights. and the fact that the american bomb squad are better on the sniper rifle than the british special forces squad.
as recent american war films go it's not quite as gung ho jingoist as some.
Thought it was alright, but expected something a bit more believable given the hype.
However much of a thrill seeker he was supposed to be, I lost interest when he decided to take his night-time jaunt into downtown Baghdad for no particular reason.
I thought it was good and showed the almost relentless futility of the job, the massive amount of IED`s that need to be dealt with, corners cut by some because of that, and the messy end result .
Some of the scenes were a bit "Typical US soldier BS" but a lot less that most.
The fact there was no Beginning, middle and end, summed it up for me....
"Same sh*t - different day"
Liked it better than I thought I might, if that makes sense, I've seen far worse movies.
And it has Ralph Feinnes using a Barrett light 50 - never thought I'd see that in a movie.
