How come Legolas is ageing backwards? If the Elves are so amazingly advanced, how come they haven't invented escalators yet? Why is Gandalf riding around on a carthorse? Where's Shadowfax? They're inside a mountain without any torches. Where's the light coming from? Nice of the skin-changer to change back into his trousers when he's got guests! Where'd the dragon learn to talk english? How come half of the dwarves just look like ordinary, if small, people? Why didn't the barrels fill up with water? How come the spider's web twanged by Bliblob was made out of non-sticky rubber? If the orcs are so tough, how come they're the only ones getting killed all the time? Why doesn't the "wizard" do anything wizardy? How come the molten gold didn't injure Smeg by getting through the hole in his wing? Still not convinced that 3d is any more than a gimmick. Happy New Year!
I think some of it's fictional and aimed at small boys and perhaps they stretched the book a little?
I'm not even sure the they have dragons in New Zealand?
