Tried such for the first time in years last night. None of us could be bothered with the jam or cream debate, sorry. And we all realised the reason we don't try such very often is because it's all in the prep, the English mild thrill of dripping jam everywhere, but sadly not actually the eating as that is just OK. Hot home made cheese scones with butter, that's a different story.
Such is life.
You can wipe your cock on yours for all i care
And serve it with pickle.
Scone like cone (with an S on the front) jam first, then cream. That way you can easily pile more cream on. I can't imagine you'd ever want to pile more jam on.
My thinking is the jam makes a great base to dollop and spread the cream on to, if you do it the other (wrong/Devon) then the cream just goes manky with jam and turns all pink and weird...
Absolutely! Putting a suitably huge dollop of cream onto the base then means trying to balance the jam on the top, or spreading it onto the underside of the top of the scone, in which case you might as well put the jam on first! 🤷🏼♂️

Irrelevant really, whatever you put on it, it will always be inferior to a Welshcake.

Never heard of them.

I want to like Welsh cakes, but they are always dry and just a bit disappointing.
