Starts today 😀

Will be watching it this afternoon, looking forward to seeing what changes they've made. At least there's Hammond's crash to look forwards to in Ep 1.

I know the trio polarise opinions but I would like them to succeed in making a decent show at least. Anyone else sticking with them?

I'm guessing a Hollywood opening episode and then a drop below daytime clown TV standards.

Looking forward to it this afternoon. Work will close at 3 as its Christmas Party day (woooo 😕 ) but I won't be cycling home, instead I'll be streaming this with a nice cup of coffee at my desk. And then down the pub for a head start on the rest...

Hmm, they've made the same mistakes that Evans made on Top Gear. Stupid gravel/tarmac track and lots of yelling. They could have made a much better effort with pretty much everything really.

Really feels like they are just going through the motions, please let it improve next week 😕

Entertaining enough, I fast forward the rubbish star in a car bits anyway.

I hope the rest of the series has a touch more content per show.

Judgement will be reserved until I watch it but given how poor S1 was Im not holding my breath that they have come up with any new good ideas.

Me too so I don’t have to watch him, although he did get better the last series.

Chris Harris is worst Top Gear presenter ever. Dreadful. Tries far too hard.

I did not like S1 of the grand tour though!

I’m going to cram this in on my free months subs, and watch all of Stranger Things as well.

Hmm, not that impressed.
The Switzerland thing went on far too long and tried too hard to be funny. Good to see that electric car leave the other two for dead on the runway and the overall scenery was nice but the oh-so-hilarious japes have worn very thin.

The head-to-head star in a car thing, I just fast forwarded through and that seemed to go on far too long as well. Seems they've taken the previous Top Gear format of introducing a bit of gravel to try and liven things up a bit.

When's new Top Gear back? With Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid it seemed to have found its feet after the awful Chris Evans.

They're only 45 mins each so that's only 2 hrs a week.

Yes. In addition to his hateful habit of trying hard I also hate the likeable way Chris Harris speaks clearly and enthusiastically, with an obvious passion for the subject matter. I also find his extensive knowledge and expertise annoying and his superlative car handling abilities (due in no small part to his amateur racing career) make his opinions irritatingly valid.

He should stick to being the number one car person on the internet.

I agree that Chris Harris acts a bit different on Top Gear from his usual channel output but hopefully that will tone down with time.
I think he is still by far the best car show presenter out there.
As it happens he has just reviewed another electric car. A bit more practical but still seriously quick.

Sadly, in that video, Harris seems fixated by speed.

But it is a Tesla, so the Bed wetterz will love it.

Sounds like you are talking about an Amazon free month?
Pro tip; Stranger Things isn't on Amazon (it's on Netflix).

What's Top Gear ?

I watched Series 2 Episode 1 in two halves - bloody family commitments. That was funny.

James needs to stay away from Greggs..

Yeah, I’m trying out both formats over Xmas .. Netflix for the Stranger Things series and Amazon for TG2. Both free for a month and since I’m off, why not.

I thought it was quite striking how old (and fat) Janes and Jeremy have got. Still the same old, which I quite like, but can’t believe they’ll keep this up for much longer

I watched it on a 4K telly. The scenery was amazing. But it did make you realise how much makeup the presenters were wearing. They looked like corpses made up for an open coffin - particularly Clarkson. There’s a man who could do with detox.

Seems to be getting worse (from a low bar). Nothing original, back to as close to Top Gear format as they can get away with, not even touring anywhere and staying in same location for studio.

Topped off by showing us that a Lamborghini (could be any other supercar) can not be used around a very tight and narrow city street and can't come with angles in the road (for what must be the tenth time)

The other half made a fair observation whilst I was panning it during playback yesterday.

'remember that easily pleased and stupid people are a target audience too'

Shut me right up.

I might find something I dont like on tv then watch it each week to repeatedly complain about it.
Or I might do something I enjoy instead.

I thought it was already. Same ol' format though.

It is to my annoyance we have the direct language re "arse" and some shagging dialogue, my 8yo would love the 3 cars but he isn't watching that.

The internet told me I'd enjoy it.
I want my money back.

Complaining about it is the best way to address the balance. If something really is below par and over-hyped, it deserves slander.

It could well be - and after watching a few episodes of the latest series it looks like their budget has been cut massively. It just doesn't feel as 'grand' as the first series.

Perhaps the Hamster should jump ship to Top Gear!

They’ve mentioned retiring from this kind of show a few times as they’re getting any younger. The first series had a massive budget to pull people to it, that worked so they scaled it down.

It’s not that much different really they just don’t travel to a different country with the tent every week.

Well I have been quite enjoying it (just seen the first three so far). I gave up on series one halfway through but I would say this series has overall been way better.

But it's a good job Hammond had that crash and Clarkson had 'pneumonia' otherwise they would have struggled for gags.

This. Much more enjoyable this time round, even if it is basically a 10 year old Top Gear repeat. Farmkhana was even pretty good fun..... until they then talked about it for 10mins and made it a bit rubbish 🙁

I'm really underwhelmed by series 2.

celebrity face off gets the FF treatment, and it's at least 15 mins long.

I still enjoyed watching it even if it was a bit crap at times, but it wasn't enough to keep my prime subscription as I never used it for anything else, so i'm out.

Talking. So much talking. Shortish car bit, then sitting in a tent talking for ages. Then another average car bit, then lots of talking in the tent again.

It’s like Parkinson with three slightly racist dads and the occasional car.

And I liked the old Top Gear...

I am guessing no moving tent due to the health issues.

Not seen the most recent ones but one of the best parts for me was the office guys thrashing their cars around the parking lot in ep3.
No big budget required, everyone having fun.

I'm still watching (and enjoying) it but fast forward through most of the talky bits and have long since stopped myself being wound up by the obviously staged bits and pieces in the features. It looks great in 4K HDR (although the presenters don't!).

Except it was using professional drivers. But a laugh to watch.

Definitely better than season 1, but not a patch on the Top Gear of old. The best things were the road trips, should've just made a feature-length one every year and charged a tenner for it.

Just watched last Fridays edition - the Audi-v-Lancia bit was great. I wish they'd do more of this sort of factual stuff, they do it so well.

Agree, in fact it was the only good part from either of the series. Lots of stuff like that on YouTube though which is what I watch for car content.

I've watched the first 6 episodes of this series on Showbox and quite enjoyed them.
Even had the wife laughing.
