Just watched this. Stunning scenery, a reasonable story idea, no supercars or big tent. Possibly one if their finer shows in my view and certainly shows how drones have made shows like this possible within budget.

The big Lake near Moron is clearly shown on Google Maps (about the half way point?) and it's only about 60km away (as the crow flies). And there are some nice-looking camps along the way as well...
Still, highly entertaining 😉

Not sure it was 90 minutes worth of TV though. Still, if was refreshing to not have any of those completely staged 'Oh, lets drive our tank through the carpark and over this old car' type moments.

Definitely one of the best they have done be that on TG or TGT.Clearly staged - I can't see how it could not be - there were few shots where you could clearly see more substantial 'roads' in the background that they could have been on instead. The desire for booze bit was overdone. I'd love to go thee though.
Was good. Felt less obviously staged than a lot of them in recent years. Can’t believe Clarkson is only 58 - he looks 100 in some shots 😀
I enjoyed it. What a stunning place. Had me dreaming of a bike packing holiday there and i have also started looking for a book an Genghis Khan too.

I'll dig this one up. In 2016 my wife and I rode horses from the Orkhon valley up to Moron over several weeks.
A truly spectacular place. Didn't see much tarmac and even the roads marked on the map were broken or dirt. An awesome adventure and I would love the chance to go back on a bike. It would be very doable following the dirt roads and a bit of wilderness.
We organised a translator and driver through a horseriding company. (Equine Adventures). We were joined by one other traveller and picked up 3 seperate sets of horses and guides along the way. We camped wild, there were rivers in the valleys. A couple of fixed campsites were available but equally we negotiated with locals on a few days when we had some epic storms and wanted something more substantial and warmer than a hiking tent.
