This looks like it's going to be a really useful book for route ideas. They are promising over 1000 route ideas covering 500 locations in England and Wales.

We've got several MBSwindon photos in it and I've been told that the Croft Trail gets a mention too, which should be good for us.

I reckon that could be the ultimate mountain biking reference book.

Well, it's written by Nick Cotton which means that descriptions, grading, info etc will be completely accurate. I have many of his books and his routes can be relied upon, he's never got me lost!

Of course it's a 'must have' with sfb pics in it, provided they're scenery and not ar$es. 😉

it was a woman who selected the shots so you should be safe 🙂

Bike maps are doing a pre-order offer, £15.95 inc p&p.

http://www.bikemaps.co.uk/goodmountainbikingguide.htm

Used BikeMaps before too, and the service is excellent.

A bump for the publishers. I'd have bought it were I not getting a free copy for a few of my pics of the Purbecks/Quantocks. One has a mate of mine gurning in a most quality manner. He may soon be an ex-mate 🙂

Just ordered this. Thinking its what I need to help get my mountain biking mojo back - been road riding mainly as of late, and haven't been doing much of that either...

Just got my 40 copies delievered by the publisher (I think) Stephen Ross. Turns out we'd met before in the Punchbowl near Natland 🙂 It's great to see my mates in a book, and there's a LOT of stuff to read, 637 pages crammed with info! So far I've only looked at the pics 🙂

Also note that Stephen is a keen rider himself, and he told me he's now gagging to ride in Wales as he had no idea there was so much great riding there!

Also a few Chasing Trails photos of N Y Moors rides in the book. A pleasant surprise that they were good enough. Must have not quite lost all the photographic skill/luck...

Looking forward to seeing it for real.

amazingly Scotland is entirely omitted on the grounds that including it would make the book unfeasibly big 🙂

If you use ViewRanger, you can get Nick Cotton's routes by searching routes in Data manager. Search for "Nick Cotton" and a shed load of routes are available.

Yet another great feature of an already fantastic app 😀

I've got my copy.
I'm pretty pleased, we got 5 photos included. My favorite is the Wyre Forest photo on page 287. It's this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92961862@N00/4895538686/in/set-72157624732083930/

Croft Trails at Swindon are also on the map.

Contents of the book are very good but i was slightly disappointed with the quality of the paper used to make the book.
No great shakes though.

That's where mines coming from except the piccie taker mines coming from takes genuinley good pictures, not just pics of questionable female MTBers arses...

Edit. Wheather they're MTBers is the question rather than wheather they have arses. 😆

Ok. Mine arrived a few days ago. Comments about the paper are correct. Mine came with all the pages ridged as though it had got wet. Obviously a decision (correct I am sure) not to say much about trail centres other than map them. But I would have expected to see some more maps and details of the Surrey hills. The maps are ok but the trails are not marked very clearly on them.

Overall I think it is brilliant value and will be a book I look at to get ideas about where to ride. But I'll need to get supplementary info elsewhere.
