I can't believe you forgot to mention that not only are you English, but you are also not very tall.
Yeah? So? That's hereditary actually, as both my parents are small. Which makes you a racist.
I don't care anyway because you're ugly and you smell. 😥
Do you ever tire of dancing on the head of a pint TJ?
It is clear to all that SNP bigged up the small European countries when they were in boom times and used their economic model as an example of what Scotland would do if they were independent. It is fairly clear, to all but the obtuse, what his view was generally on the banking sector- perhaps you should produce some quotes where he was screaming for financial regulation prior to the collapse – you know both sides need to produce evidence [ bet you claim you never said that etc]– I think we should take a lack of comment as indicative that he broadly supported the status quo re regulation.
Binners was asserting that Scotland would have had light touch banking regulation without any evidence. I hoped he would provide some but seemed unable to do so
Again reasonable to assume that his lack of comment on this means he was ok with the current/old system.
It is a pointless argument TJ there is no direct quote re regulation - are you suggesting he has no view then? You suggesting he used them aa models but actually opposed their regualtion system - this does seem a a somewhat unlikely position - prima facie
More buildings please.
Hmm. Care to remind us what exactly it was that you said to SimonFBarnes, that got you banned, a couple of months ago? Wasn't very nice, was it?
I didn't say a word to sfb, although I did have a day ban once. How many times you have been permanently banned for exactly the behaviour which I described earlier Fred?
I don't even know but it's a good few now.
The european experiment is not over - it's just getting interesting.
to which the previous 6 pages are testimony.
Ireland/Portugal/Iceland/Greece/Spain/the rest of us/etc. are not in financial trouble because of the Euro-dollar, or the european union, they/we are in trouble because they/we've been spending Billions that they/we didn't have.
silly sods.
it turns out that you can't build an economy from selling debt to one another, or rather, you can, but don't expect it to stand up for very long.

Herein lies the biggest weakness of the Euro/single economy.
There will always be states that are carried. Permanently.
Yes, we wouldn't do anything silly like that

Well that's a lie for a start.
The actual post has been removed, but I know you posted it, because I read it.
I've never, ever posted anything anywhere near that offensive at all. In fact, I've never actually bin banned for breaking forum rules; just that the mods decided the number of complaints about me was too much. Complaints from people who can't accept that someone else had a different point of view to them, and got wound up by things. I've accepted my behaviour needed to change, and have taken appropriate steps. I've grown up and moved on. I suggest you do the same.
I shan't respond to you about this matter, as I now consider it closed, and continuing this 'discussion' will serve no positive purpose.
Anyway, back to more important matters...
Not a building as such, but continuing along the 'Norwegian Lympic Venue' seam, see this, right, it's a cavern inside a mountain at a place called Gjøvik, in Norway. Was used for the ice hockey tournament, and is also a concert venue. it's the largest 'underground' public arena in the World. A stunning feat of engineering.

only if they keep spending money they don't have...
i'm not sure i believe this, but... i could argue that the current mess we're in is because Europe didn't have enough power - to tell ireland to stop spending money like a drunk sailor in a whore-house.
There will always be states that are carried. Permanently.
Yeah, but only in the same way in a country, there will always be areas that produce less than others, and maybe require more spending on services and that. Frinstance; should the people of Northern Ireland have public spending cut simply because their 'input' is less than other regions? No, they're part of the United Kingdom, and should have a fair share. As for 'permanently', you can see into the future then, Hora?
Pft. You can't even forsee the slap that Binners is going to give you next time he sees you.... 😀
I didn't get a ban for that. And I don't believe you about your numerous bannings. Just why did so many people complain about you fred? I wonder......
ok you dont believe him he does not believe you.
Thrilling as this is can we move on now ?
Wasted on swimmers. Most of them are just staring at the bottom of the pool. They should make the bottom of the pool a big flat screen telly. Missed a trick there.
As for 'permanently', you can see into the future then, Hora?
When was the last time that Spain or Portugal was a rich, prosperous and influential country?
(Lets not bother with Greece on this one).
Then there are other new EU countries joining all crying out for investment etc.
If we really must have a EU maybe it should be a smaller 4-nation nucleus with 'special understanding' (a 2-tier affair) instead.
Next Elf you'll be inviting the Somalians to join.
When was the last time that Spain or Portugal was a rich, prosperous and influential country?
Erm, it's been a while, sure, but do you know nothing about South America?
Next Elf you'll be inviting the Somalians to join.
You just make yourself look an arse by saying things like that. It's obvious you know bugger all about bugger all Hora. You're very blinkered. Although considering Somalia is a land that has been ruthlessly exploited for European gain, particularly Britain and Italy, then maybe we do owe them something, yeah.
Elf the Pirates are to blame for everything.
If they kidnapped you, Hora, they'd pay money to get rid of you...
Elf I'd re-organise them. Give them a proper organisational structure with a rocket launcher for each and every man along with a comfort-whore. I'd also ensure they each get their own STW login.
does the design of the swimming place catch the water to fill the pool?
it looks pretty cool
Ignore Hora on all serious issues that require thought , encourage him and prod him on less serious issues. Like you would treat a cross between Jeremy Kyle and a Loose women host
Junkyard- Im sure I saw you once wear a headscarf on a ride. I actually thought you'd look good as a pirate 😆
Going back to the original topic. Working in Sweden with the bairns growing up in another country I think the European ideal is great if you can make use of it. Learn another language, travel, widen your world a bit. Going on holiday is not the same as you don't reap the benefits like being able to claim Child benefit and have access to healthcare or having a real experience of the country. I also feel that we all have about the same principles as Europeans and we believe in similar things like Freedom of the press and a government that should help balance society and help the underdog.
The children do see themselves as British but are Europeans as well I want them to have as big world as possible that they see themselves a part of.
There are of course interesting differences as the British, (Not English in particular) are rubbish at planning anything for the future, more selfish, but are more go getting and independent thinking. I think some of this comes from the influence of the USA (The idea of small government being good for the common people, no its not its good for corporations to rip off the common people!), lack of space in the UK, and the tolerance we have had to have living in a country consisting of 4 countries and traditionally many descenting religions.
[pirate voice] AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH [ /pirate voice]
i have a boat as well
That's that then. Junkyard is a pirate.
Problem solved, thread closed.
.
I don't agree with TJ on this issue, as I can't see long-term benefits from such a schism, but I can appreciate his arguments, and respect his point of view. If people are just going to insult him via the tags, then that's just negative and stupid.
At what point has Tandem Jeremy shown any respect for others? 😆 He's gotta be the Top Troll on STW! I don't think I have ever seen any post from him that isn't highly polarized and he'll invariably jump in with an unjustified fierce attack on those who's opinions differ from his own. Definite trolling! If he's not trolling, then he must be pretty daft.
If he was a bit more balanced and respectful of others, it is unlikely people would feel the need to post annonymous derrogatory tags about him!
If that's a troll, it's pretty good. Had me going for a minute or so. Surely it's a troll?
I think TJ is quite right.
About everything...
Undoubtedly, especially about how lethal helmets are!
Spongebob - I suggest you read your posts on page i. Full of opinion as fact, full of actual factual inaccuracies, full of cant and bias
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
I was on the receiving end of a concerted attack from the small minded for daring to introduce the truth to spoil their paranoid fantasies based of factual inaccuracies and misinformation.
Thats an unnecessarily flowery way of saying he's right. I whole-heartedly concur. He is indeed right. About absolutely everything. I personally wish he was running the country.
Here's hoping eh? We can but dream 😉
To go back to the original statement, I believe that if the European structure as we know it really does blow apart, then we are all pretty thoroughly done for for a very long time. It's not going to be pretty or nice and - one of the reasons that I am pro-Euro - relegates us all to non-entity status in the world. OK, that's opinion but one I hold pretty strongly.
Let's all ride the euro-sausage
TJ does not troll why do people say something just to get a reaction - now that is pathetic and sad.
binners would never stoop so low as lazy trolling, would he?
I agree
And if we're riding the Euro-sausage, can I have the Bratwurst please?
