This exclusive opportunity for British Cycling members comes ahead of the release of the general volunteering applications.Do you have what it takes to be a Games Maker? You need to be:
- Aged 18 or over on 1st January 2012
- Eligible to volunteer in line with UK immigration rules
- Willing to volunteer for at least 10 days of shifts
- Able to attend a minimum of 3 days training
- Able to find and pay for own accommodation and travel โ ๐
Helps weed out the wheat from the chaff, those who really want to do it will do it, those who think "what, no free accommodation, no perks" won't bother applying. It's exactly the same offer that everyone else will be getting in a week or so.
People have a strange idea about volunteering thinking it's a free ticket to watch the events or a chance to meet all the big names. Just occasionally it is but the most of the time - sorry mate, you'll be stuck out there actually doing some work...
-And be a rich git.
I heard Lordy Coe on the radio a while back make a plea/advert for this.
When you look at the amount of money some will make from it, it kinda takes the piss.
I had that email and thought it's going to cost over 500 quid to help at the games -sod that!
