Apparently they're going to start digging in January! Here's hoping they find them!

Hope so too, but I'm prepared for disappointment.
It all seems to be based on rumour, so maybe they'll find something else. We might one day see a squadron of Brewster Buffaloes take to the skies!

Which would still be cool.

My life's ambition is to fly in a Spitfire. Might still happen then!

I'll ask my dad if he knows where they are, not that he'd recognise the place after 66 years.

If they can find them, they should be restorable. The car "Babs" driven by J. G. Parry-Thomas attempting a world record on Pendine sands, was buried in the sand dunes after crashing in 1927, killing Parry-Thomas. There it stayed until 1969 and was restored over a period of 15 years. I remember seeing an undercarriage strut from a Spitfire that had been in the sea for god knows how many years and the chrome was still bright.

Talking to my friend at work today about this, I'm really hoping they find at least one, would be amazing to see it restored.

What I would dearly, dearly love to see turn up would be crated up examples of Typhoon, Tempest, Beaufighter and Whirlwind. Just one flying example of each of these beautiful aircraft would be fantastic.
Until Kermit Weeks turned up and bought them and carted them back to America... [/cynic]

2 of them are going to Goodwood - Lord March has a hand in the funding of the recovery.
