surely its not a great feat of imagination to see that a group recently the target of millions of rubles of munitions is agrieved to the point of stuffing a suitcase with B or E in it on a russian plane?

Coz Putin will come round and pollonium your tea if you say that he may have made a mistake getting involved in Syria

Because so far they have no evidence of a B or E? (...yet)

No mention of a bomb or any "martyr".

I don't think they claimed it was a missile, specifically, just that they downed it, though it was noted that the claim didn't come through normal IS channels, the associated video has been poopooed etc

That being said, simply claiming it was terrorism, is spreading terror, Russian and Egyptian tourist industries will suffer, Russians may start to doubt the wisdom of becoming involved etc
The internet love a conspiracy and already there's a tit for tat blame game between Egypt and the airline, Russia's media censorship reputation , fertile ground for the conspiracy types

Tass cited a source saying that "elements that were not part of the plane" were found at the crash site. They are being analysed - whether that is from a bomb or simply some luggage is unclear.

Anyway, I don't know that it's not being mentioned- there was a prominent article on the BBC the other day with some possible causes, one of them being a B.
It's not super surprising that people are trying to avoid jumping to conclusions, although it's probably the first thing most people thought of.

No doubt some tinfoil hatter will be along in a minute to suggest Putin arranged for the plane to be bombed in order to strengthen feeling against them thar muslamics thus justifying his war on terrorski. After all, what's a few dead Russian tourists? There are millions more where they came from.

I thought similar to the O.P. "Likely that it broke up mid air" is the strongest language I've heard so far. Rare (and admirable) restraint from the UK media.

@kimbers no the early tests found no explosive residue on the bodies of the victims. As of now (5pm) the UK government says a result of new information a bomb is the most likely chase as and as such all UK bound flights have been postponed from Sham tonight. I posted a few days ago I thought a bomb was the most likely cause, planes really don't just all apart midair, even when doors / panels have fallen off the plane doesn't disintegrate

The Muslim Bortherhood are already extremists. I personally think the Egyptians have "dropped the ball" here with Russia taking a more active role in Syria it should have been obvious there was a greater threat especially as the Russians make up 30% + of tourists to Sham. I did read about the tail strike and it remains a possibility but it was my guess that a bomb was most likely

I saw something on the news about the plane suffering a tail-strike, and remembered watching a tv programme about plane crashes, in this case a Boeing 747; the plane had been repaired, but further checks hadn't been fully carried out, IIRC, and the plane later on broke up.
