There, I've said it, ya'll happy now? 🙄 😡 😀 Was away in Morocco for the last 3 Tests, so was spared the ignominy of being in the UK for this one, hence my silence up till now. Seems I was missed... so here's you chance to get it all in 🙂

Truly sad performance from Australia, would never have thought we could play so badly on our home turf, to lose 3 Tests by an innings was woeful to behold and far beyond the worst nightmares of any Aussie cricket fan...

Sorry we couldn't put up more of a fight to make it interesting; now you Brit's know how we felt for many years, winning so many games, it just became boring to watch really 😉

I fear for Test cricket going forward you know, I really think TwentyTwenty is going to kill it in the end... just too much money for young players to not want to excel at that form, which means they'll be rubbish at Test cricket most likely, IMHO...

What do you call an Australian holding the winner's champagne bottle?

The waiter...

What do you call an Aussie cricketer with a hundred to his name?

A bowler

Pfffttt 🙂

I hear the ECB are planning make the next ashes series a 3 test series to allow England more time to play the top teams more often (eg Holland, Bangladesh, Latvia etc)

I fear for Australian test cricket, the rest of us (who can still play it) are just fine.

Pushovers!

I fear for Test cricket going forward you know, I really think that because we're so utterly rubbish at it, we'll try and make a much bigger deal of the pyjama game

FTFY.

the Australian test team really weren't that bad - a newish team got beaten by a more experienced team.

i do worry that some decent Aussy players will never be picked again just because they didn't thrash england in their first ashes series.

the test series was interesting up until the last few hours of the last test, and the one-dayers are lining up nicely as it seems quite evenly matched. i'd rather watch/listen to a close match in which england lose, than a one-sided trouncing in which england win.

it seems that Australia/England are like 2 best mates who sometimes forget that they're mates...

I hope that's the case ahwiles, but if you look at our current domestic setup there's definitely cause for concern.

i'd rather watch/listen to a close match in which [s]england [/s] Australia lose, than a one-sided trouncing in which [s]england [/s] Australia wins.

Same here, much prefer a close game (in any sport), unless of course my team has endured a loooong period of poor performance and suddenly turns it round to destroy a (historically) dominant opponent, few things more satisfying than that! 🙂

because R Murdoch doesn't let me watch cricket anymore, i've only got the highlights to base my judgement on, but...

it seemed to me that a lot of Aussy wickets fell because the batsman did something foolish, rather than because of a lack of skill.

a few more tests, a few more grey hairs, and they'll calm down a bit.

no worries...

In terms of experience, the teams were a lot closer than you'd think.
