So the missus won't do as I say...

...only kidding. I have a 7 month old male Golden Retriever who is constantly resting his gentleman's plums on my 9 year old retrievers head. He really seems to take delight in it. Now older dog is without the full set of equipment to return the favour and doesn't really seem phased by the intrusion into his personal space.

I have not seen this behaviour in any of our previous dogs but tbf having 2 at active is rather new. Is it domination, is it just showing off the fact he still has his swingers(for now) or is it a misguided pulling technique (it never worked with the ladies for for me).

I’d make myself a pea shooter and try some aversion therapy

That's a high risk staratagy. I know golden retrievers are pretty chilled but they still have big teeth.

At risk of answering the question (after calming down from the title) we used to have a GSD that did exactly this and took great delight in the reactions it caused. Thing is he would only do it occasionally so you never knew if lying on the rug was going to result in his sweaty balls in your face or not and it only happened when you least expected it (sometimes whilst play fighting, other times he would just wander past and plonk himself down).

My dog is plumless, but he does something similar to us humans. He just likes to sit on part of you, which I guess is either dominance or affection. Because he's not a big dog it's usually just your foot. If you're on the floor for any reason it could be your face. He'll hover around choosing where to park, and then reserve in.

Reported and pending lifetime ban. Dear boy teabags are not acceptable, including the gold version of that pleb slurry.

Be gone you uncouth rotter.

It's how I demonstrate my dominance over my staff at work.

So it makes sense dogs would copy me... I guess...

It's generally learned behaviour. Have you been setting the dog a bad example?

Just as an aside, my dog is actually called Tetley - but he doesn't have any tea bags, IYKWIM.

Is that animal cruelty?

This was taken a few months back while Patch the terrier was all dog.
Norman, the inlaws dog would just lay there whilst Patch would climb all over him.
Things may change around now on their next meeting though, as Norman is still all dog whilst Patch has become a member of M.W.N (mutts without nuts)
