We will be in touch
I've got a new company car coming soon, it's a Ford Focus Estate.
I'm looking for a cheap rubber boot liner but, I want one to fit when the back seats are dropped. The car is pretty much going to exist in "van" format.
I've seen the perfect thing for about £150, however, I'd rather spend closer to £40 or £50 as it's not my car and I'll only have it for 3 years.
Anyone know of anything/anywhere that might help?
Tarp from Towsure or local hardware shop?
Also thought about some floor covering from carpet shop?

Thanks for those. Any more ideas out there?
150 for something that's 'perfect' you'll get loads of use out of for THREE years?...
Sounds pretty good to me..
Kayak, I'm trying to convince myself also (hatchbag) but a couple of errant pedals will make short work of it.
(I had a Mondeo Estate one but got lucky as found it on ebay secondhand)
A quick check on good old roofbox.co.uk shows a few choices in your budget. They seem to be promoting the Rezaw-Plast ones quite heavily. For £40ish, they look smart and very good value.
Rhino is your friend. I have one, great quality, tough, made in UK, fits perfectly.
Big heavy duty plastic sheet
tarpaulin
shower curtain
chunk of soft lino

I bought a hatchbag in 2012 after a number of recommendations on here. My bike lives in my boot along with crampons, ice axes, a load of other outdoor kit. I dump wet and dirty gear in it all the time. Things get dragged in and out, I'm not careful with it. After a couple of months use I realised that there was no chance of damaging it so I've forgotten about it since then. A bottle of windscreen wash managed to leak all over the boot too, and the hatchbag completely stopped it from getting onto the carpet. Most importantly for me, it doesn't move around. A couple of the other solutions I tried were rubbish as soon as you tried to push or pull stuff into, out or around the boot. Hugely frustrating!
Can't recommend it enough. I know it's £150 for just a bit of material, but it's totally fit and forget.
G/f hatchbag has been in two cars (replaced old focus with newer focus) and so is over 3 years old and still in brilliant condition. Can't recommend them enough, and tbh I can't see hows pedal will make short work of them (not used a bike transport) as the material really thick/tough.
The £78 ones on Ebay look good.
If I didn't still have my £5 tarp I bought off there 3 cars ago I might go for one of those. (probably get another tarp though)
lol I have never seen a boot mats for £150, where did u get that from? Travall make some model tailored boot mats http://www.travall.co.uk/boot-mat-liners-t358 check them out to see if they have one for Ford Focus Estate (I'm sure they do).
Hatchbag.
They line the whole boot (including when your seats are down) rather than just the bottom carpet.
roofbox.co.uk did some around the £70 mark I think, last time I checked for my S Max.
daniebike, what's being described is not a glorified mat, but basically a bag with one side, the top, open, so that everything is contained inside it, like dirt, sand, liquids, small objects, animals, children, etc.
+1 for hatchbag
bit pricey but worth every penny, complete fit-and-forget, and nigh on indestructable
ours has survived bikes, boots full of rubble, lots of spills, and regularly keeps the dog's mud contained
BTW its worth getting all the extra bits (split seat option, seat & bumper flaps)
+1 for RhinoUK here, very much from the same mould as Hatchbag. Tough as old boots, doesn't move around in the back, covers right up the sides all round and has a fold out flap to protect the bumper/sill when delving in to the boot.
Hi Everyone,
My names Jake and I work for Hatchbag Boot Liners,
Just thought I would introduce myself and let you know that if you have any questions about our products or boot liners in general I would be more than happy to help.
Don't worry I'm not here to try and sell anything just to offer advice where I can.
Oh dear.
I've seen the perfect thing for about £150, however, I'd rather spend closer to £40 or £50 as it's not my car and I'll only have it for 3 years.
If you spend £150, you'll likely get a fair amount of that back after 3 years if you sell it on onthe bay. It will still be desirable.
Oh dear.
To be fair, I don't have any problem with a hatchbag rep being here, provided the chat sticks solely to answering queries specifically directed to him about hatchbags. Brant does it all the time for that bike company and it seems to work ok.
In fact, I think that it's one of the benefits of social media, but I'm sure the mods will disagree 🙂
What do you mean by Oh dear.. Brant does this all the time. someone from chain reaction did similar. Can't see what the issue is.
+1 fair play to hatchbag for having a online presence to support the companies brand.
Hatchbag, any tempting discount codes? 🙂
I got an enormous heavyweight tarp- not your crinkly blue plastic rubbish, a proper one you could beat someone to death with- the weight of it means it stays in place. Cut to size and shape, lovely.
I've added a couple of rivnuts round the car so I can fasten it in more "permanently", which isn't really neccesary but a bit more convenient- I had to adjust the thing every couple of months before.
All in, cost me about £20 and I've still got half of the tarp spare in teh garage.
I was going to suggest the neoprene welly type ones till I read the full question 😉 Good luck in your search Onza!
Brant has an inherent interest in mountain bikes and cycling over and above working for On-One.
Just thought it was strange that Hatchbag pops up when it's product is mentioned, and will probably never be seen again. Tis all.
Those hatch bags look perfect. Question for mr hatch bag - does the boot liner extension also protect the rear passenger doors?
Easy enough to sign up to Google Alerts to get notifications when your name or a brand gets mentioned. Think I remember Brant saying he used this method ages ago.
Hatchbag hasn't come on here with the hard sell, he could just as easily used an anonymous name and given the brand some fantastic feedback as an imaginary customer!
Fair enough but Hatchbag have some strange options going on.
Such as the VW Caddy Maxi Life - up to 2012 they do but according to an email from them, they don't have a pattern for the 2012 onwards.
Yet VW's load liner and the boot liner is the same for ALL years.
No offer of using a vehicle as a template either which I have had in the past for bike parts on new models that they haven't had before.
Their loss.
CaptainSlow - The boot liner extension does not cover the rear doors unfortunately, The tailoring required to do this would make the costs rise too much.
Spooky - Your right on the money there, Except I use an app called mentions for tracking our brand online. For anyone that has their own company or works in marketing its well worth a look.
Hammyuk - I'll take a look into the dates on the VW Caddy and let you know what I find. Unfortunately we are only a relatively small company who are fighting a losing battle when it comes to keeping up with new vehicles to pattern, The likes of the caddy are also not great sellers for us so they tend to pushed down the list by better selling vehicles. If we had the time and resources we would love to pattern every vehicle this is just impossible at the moment.
hammyuk - I've taken a look into the vw caddy and I can't find any trace of it in our product listings or design documents - Are you sure it was hatchbag you spoke to?
5 months on and I'm in the market for a boot protector thing. Anyone used one for a skoda superb estate with non-elevating floor, and any newcomers worth considering?
Anyone got anything to recommend?
