As above, off to the NEC for a concert next week for the first time in years.
Is the parking there still crap, 10,000 folks still trying to leave all at once through one exit or have they sorted stuff out?
Are there any viable alternatives to using the car to get there and back in the same evening?

Park at Birmingham International Train station. Enter station and follow signs for NEC. Walk through to NEC Piazza and then follow signs for LG Arena. 10 minute walk to the LG Arena in total.
