I currently have a tracker mortgage at 0.95% above the base rate and I'm thinking I ought to fix it for 5 years...

I can get a 5yr fix at 3.49%. Any reason not to switch.....?

does your tracker have early exit penalties? most generous trackers do. might still work out best to do it, but its not as clear cut.

No exit penalties and no cost to change. It’s with the same provider so I’ll switch it.

If it's with the same provider and you have the ability to overpay a % each year, check if the overpayment is based on the original loan balance or will drop down to the balance when you change product.
