To swap or Give Away!

People might have bits that have just been lying about their garage, not being used that they don't need any more, say an old bar or stem that they could swap with someone for a bit they do need. Likewise if someone has a part they're not using and has no need or loaded enough not to need/want a swap they could offer to give it away for the cost of P&P.
I think you could guarantee that only cyclists frequent this forum so you would be happy that your used bits find a loving home on someone else's bicycle. Afterall we're not all Audi driving middle managers with 10 bikes. It's a win win, Mr Rich gets some karma points and gets to feel better about himself that he's helped a fellow cyclist and Mr Poor gets bits the needs for his bike.

What do you all reckon?

I'd be up for that - I have a few bits that could go to a good home. More importantly, I need some bits that fall into the cheap/cheerful/old category...

How would it work though? The pain of the For Sale section is how it's split into a sellers' lists. How would you aggregate the bits so they could be easily searched?

one wife, relatively new
one dog, pretty shiny but ears stop working when there's things to hunt

PM for offers, will consider swapping for a bi-sexual well-breasted twin and a fully trained spaniel

I have a brand new non drive side gxp bottom bracket if anyone wants it and a few chain rings with about 6 months left, would do for a hack/pub bike.

Maybe rather than a sub-forum, continue to use the For Sale forum but use "FREE" or "SWAP" at the beginning of the subject line?

a fully trained spaniel

I have one of those..... please send pics of the wife you're willing to trade. Are you willing to add a bit of cash or decent hardware to the wife to make up the difference?

How about a members wives / husbands section while you're at it?
Oh and a forum dedicated to tyres to the muppets can have their own section and stay there!

I'd go for an 'Ask the Expert' subforum.

Basically, my idea is we capture the guys on this forum who actually know something about bikes and bike maintenance (I'm thinking start with wwaswas and Peter Poddy) and encourage them to oversee a 24-hour live Q&A for all of us idiots/noobs/muppets who require assistance with tyre choice and such questions as 'how do I measure my seatpost diameter?'

Now that would make STW really useful. ๐Ÿ˜†

Phil, postcode please! London's a big space.

BTW, my two-year-old trained spaniel doesn't have fuzzy legs unlike deadslow's ^^^^ ๐Ÿ˜€

Meh.....

Punching above your weight a bit there Phil - unless that's not you - which I guess it isn't as she is dressed to get married and the geezer isn't ๐Ÿ˜‰

she's currently in london being stared at by a weird man in costa

Is she a latte?

Ooo can we have a section for stoves and wood, another for manly building projects, a "what car should I buy" section and obviously one for dogs ๐Ÿ™‚
