As above, I’ve been using a VPN for ages, and had no issues at all with this forum. Now, for some reason, if I open STW it just won’t load, it starts then just hangs, not doing anything. Which is intensely annoying, because I now have to switch off something I use for privacy reasons, and now STW is compromising my security by not letting me use my VPN.
I’ve also now started getting the bloody cookies permissions thing showing up, which has never happened before. It’s bad enough on Flipboard, but I understand that, because I’m constantly changing from one web source to another, but I keep STW open all the time, plus I’m a subscriber, so I shouldn’t be getting it.
I’m sure I’ll get a bunch of people saying “well, it’s been a problem for us for ages, so why should you be any different!”
To which I’ll reply with “It shouldn’t be a problem at all”.

Did you consider that your Vpn may be the issue here and not stw at all.

Fwiw I use it through a VPN every single day.

I assume there's a counter thread over on vpnworld yeah ?

^^what they said. I use a VPN all the time, very occasionally it'll just stop connecting. 2 clicks to switch server and as if by magic STW is back again.

So yeah, probably not STW, it'll be your VPN.

Work laptop is always connected to a VPN. That loads STW fine. Probably a VPN issue as all STW will do is service requests. Enable developer tools in your browser and do a network profile/trace or install fiddler and do the same. What does that show?

Also simple test is to see if you can ping the STW URL.

Where do you VPN to? Try somewhere else.

I’m a subscriber, so I shouldn’t be getting it.

Subscribing to a cycling magazine does not exempt you from responding to legally required GDPR compliance questions I'm afraid. Even if they are annoying.

We saw this

STW not working with a VPN

And this

CountZero

And knew there was no practical solution that didn't involve ducks.  It would be fantastic if the problem didn't lie at your end but practical experience in similar situations has shown that in this case the first thing to look at is this particular vpn.  I wish the internet wasn't like this but cheapskates have made it so.  The fact that you have subscribed should really remove these problems
