MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
In a previously unprecedented ocurence, I've been given the TV remote control for the day, watched the Moto GP with a beer, I've just fired the barby up so me and me dad can eat own body weights in red meat*, and then I'm going to spend the evening watching football, and drinking the nice Malbec my daughters bought me. Nice! 😀
How about you lot then?
* the vegan child of previous Maccy D's thread infamy has just turned up. Coincidence?
Usually the wee yunkis stay with me from Wednesday to Sunday, but I'm having them an extra night this week cos their mum is playing roller derby today and won't be back until late..
So far I have been treated to a hassle free lie-in, playing connex and Plants vs Zombies and I'm about to cook the three of us a big fat Sunday roast (fish fingers, mash and peas)
MrsMCTD has been away all weekend at a Guide camp, so I've had loads of quality time with the Deadly Duo this weekend.
Was awakened by LittleMissMC and a menagerie of cuddly toys at 6.30 this morning, who all piled into bed and watched the England v Italy repeat. Her older brother popped his head round the door at 7 to deliver my card and a small "HMS Victory in a bottle" that he got me while on a school trip a couple of weeks ago. Which prompted his sister to find me her card and two bottles beautifully filled with multi-coloured sand. Luckily the corks stayed in as she threw on the bed...
Lazy morning sorting washing and ironing and chivvying on homework, then over to my folks for lunch - homemade lasagne and rhubarb crumble.
Jnr has decided he isn't going to swimming training this afternoon after yesterdays charitable exertions, so we'll get his sister along there later for her lesson, by which time their mum should be back with a ton of washing and probably half a dozen damp tents to go in the garage to dry out.
Only difference to a normal Sunday is that I've not got out on a bike and I've not had the Mrs nagging me about anything - yet!
3 year old crankbrat gave me chocolates that became concealed behind a card cue the following conversation " daddy where are the chocolates I got you?" " they are in my tummy" " no they are not " " yes they are I ate them all while you were in the kitchen" face crumples with utter desolation:-
" But I was going to share those with you ! " he says eyes welling with tears.
Working since 7.30am.
A variety pack of ales from my boys. About fire up the BBQ for beer can chicken with hickory smoke chips. MMMMMMMM.
I asked my family about this and was told
"well your allowed an outing later"
On the plus side i'm expected to do naff all extra on mothers day
My lad is wiht his grandparents in wals so.. calm has decended! till he comes back supercharged next week. they did phone and prompt him to say "hello dad.. happy fathers day.. i love you" which was sweet. I pootled this morning intterupted by a dash to the vets wiht a cat with a costly maladie 🙁
Got up and went out early doors for a ride up on Butser & QECP, back home & held hands and walked all the way round Marwell Zoo with my little girl
Now curled up watching Dispicable Me
We went over to Falkirk to see the Kelpies and play in the water jets. Twas a good couple of hours. Now about to lie on the couch and watch Frozen with my daughter.
Work until 7am got home, wished the wife a happy birthday, fell asleep and woke up about 1pm, had some breakfast, tidied the house, fixed the MIL wifi and now back home to head back to bed for some sleep. So yeah just another day.
Mixed.
Had a great lazy morning with my boys after staying up last night to watch the match, but it's one of the days when I miss my dad the most.
When they were little and I would lose patience with them,I would say sorry for being a grumpy dad.
Their reply was often (and what was in the card this morning)
"It's ok,you're just the dad we need".
I wish I had told mine that.
I didn't get home until 9 this morning (should have been midnight), at which time I was presented with a box of handmade (at nursery) cookies and some chocolates, and what purport to be Fathers Day cards. After a glorious 5.5 hrs in bed with only one interruption (middle child woke me to show me that he had successfully inflated a balloon all by himself), I am now having a much needed dump before I go back to work to see if any progress has been made with last nights carnage. On the plus side, the evidence I have just seen in the lounge indicates that the cookies were delicious, as were 80% of the chocolates. I shall probably indulge myself with a kebab later on.
Drac - ModeratorWork until 7am got home, wished the wife a happy birthday, fell asleep and woke up about 1pm, had some breakfast, tidied the house, fixed the MIL wifi and now back home to head back to bed for some sleep. So yeah just another day.
I was passing through Alnwick @ about 1pm, hope my gasping for air breathing didn't wake you 😉
I was presented with a replacement to the pair of Birkenstocks for indoors I left on Holiday last year by my kids. Its like a pair of old friends have moved back onto my feet.
Plus my choice of how the day pans out for me, which was an MTB poodle this morning, strictly no strava or HR/Power based efforts, pausing for cake & tea. Then followed by an afternoon on the sofa watching the Dauphine & Tour de Suisse.
Not great, up 12.30-04:30 with the little one being sick, then up again at 07:30 when she woke up again. A home made card and clay model thingies, though a toblerone is always welcome. Missus is due this week and for the last week hasn't been able to walk without pain so the furthest we've ventured is the back garden (for me to do some weeding). No biking as im on hospital run standby. All good practice for the sleep deprived chaos that's about to let loose...
All good, bimble round Lee and Cragg Quarry this morning, back in time for hugs and chocolates (shared obviously!) from my daughter and a Sunday dinner cooked by the other half.
Matt
Did a half iron man today. Did think of the nipper a few times on the way round. I'm not sure she's as proud of her dad as she should be 😉
Also on clean up duty overnight for offspring being sick, which mucked up family dinner plans for today. Have had t shirt and bike light as gift.
Been out with other offsping to visit a few local artists studios, they have an annual Open Studios scheme so part cultural event, part short random car journeys.
Feeling completely knackered from 36 hours with minimal sleep on back of a day out with local Youth Club yesterday and three 12-14 hour days doing a course for work in the latter part of last week.
Likely to be grumpy at work until at least Wednesday.
Went to bed after the England triumph after a 21 hour day.
Got jumped on by my son at 5:30 am.
Watched Lord of the Rings with afore mentioned son.
Cleared cat shit out of front garden.
Installed anti cat shit measures
Went to local carnival.
Cleared fresh cat shit out of garden.
Got a copy of Guy Martin's book.
Who needs kids 😀
Ronald McDonald.
First one without my old man - tough 🙁
I was passing through Alnwick @ about 1pm, hope my gasping for air breathing didn't wake you
Probably not but I may have sensed a stranger in town.
My dad died 25 years ago and I have no kids. Not a good day to be out in pubs/restaurants for me.
Great day on the bike,
Well an odd one.
My wife's sister was rushed to hospital yesterday, had a 4 hour operation so my wife is with her in intensive care.
My mum and I took the kids to the sustainability show in Taunton, then had chicken pie and now doing Lego and watching cbeebies.
No bike action but might get out tomorrow.
Sorry for that Drac, I also shouted HELLO at two chaps on Fat Bikes in Amble just over 1/2 hour later.
Now back near Morpeth with very tired legs, that climb up to Corby's Crags is a bit of a pull 😮
Though I'm about to cook some nice juicy sirloin steaks for the In-Laws from http://www.greenbutcher.co.uk/
Peppercorn sauce made this morning so well matured
Sent Mr Mule Senior a "Happy Daddy Day" text.Which will undoubtedly surprise him as he will have no idea that it's father's day 😆
Neither of Mr Mule's kids appear to have bothered to get in touch with him 👿
Raced the national masters circuit race. Family arrived just missing the finish. Pub for lunch, walk in Windsor Great Park, football watching.
Started off watching the football then a baseball match a couple of hours kip then up to pack the wife off to work at 6am then sorted the kids and have been on car park duty with the scouts all day now cooking for the kids and will cook again for the wife later when she gets home at about.10pm.
Did get a card from the kids and just bought myself some cider and a.big bar of chocolate
Not bad considering youngest has the pox and eldest is in an arsey mood, up at 5, spent a few hours with them before beggaring off for a thigh burning few hours ragging the road bike (road rage aside was a good run out) Treated myself to a baked Camembert refuel, chilling out now while mrs finishes baking my cake, couple of books off the kids that I'm looking forward to reading, maybe a tipple later.
Legs tired, v.sleepy, contented.
Pretty pap. Got a 'your presents not here yet' from Mrs this morning, and was then told 'and it's not worth waiting for'! Tried to sort the garden this morning, however due to mrs bits sodding off to her mothers for 2 hours, I had to stay within 5yards if the house so I could listen for micro bits waking up.
I then drove the ride on mower into a tree and bent it (I've bent it back!) and then heard a puncture as I put it into the garage.
I've now finished the playhouse for minibits, and I'm cooking my wife HER favourite roast lamb.
I think this is somehow wrong?
Free pass for a day's riding in the south Lakes. Result! Apart from meeting the same 4x4 guiding company at the same rocky bit on the Nibthwaite descent for the third time in a row.
Two bike rides!
15k pootle with the family this morning and the 40k road ride this afternoon.
Just need to setup my Garmin vivofit up now 🙂
Got out early to go fishing, mrsvader and minivader turned up at about 10 with Bacon and sausage sarnies the next spent an hour and a half fishing with the boy. They then left me to it and I came home to steak dinner.... Nice!
Interference from mother in law earlier has led to an argument and no dinner!
Oh, and I've just been bollocked 'for always being in a grump, it's so waring....' as I cleaned up micro bits entire dinner after he puked it up in his cot!
I remember single days just too fondly!
Yesterday up Innerliethan for a tootle.
Today, beer, traditional lemonade, nuts and choccy were presented at 7am on the dot. 😆
Spent the rest of the day doing usual DIY, removing two stuck BB's and rebuilding a bike, then a wee play out round park and BMX track with eldest.
8)
I've been at work all day. Just had a lovely roast dinner cooked by my lovely wife and a lovely chocolate cake baked by my lovely kids. No beer though due to a self imposed 6 week ban 😕
STW dads - how's Father's Day panning out then?
Interesting choice of words. *Suspects binners has been giving my Mrs present buying ideas.
Had to remind my two it was father's day after we had been up for 1he and a bit. Got my cards, Worlds best Dad mug™ and chocolate orange. Thanks to my mum for having bought it all, can't expect miserable boot of an ex to make an effort.
Pulled a muscle in my back on Friday so gentle scum ride with kids today polished off with coffee and ice cream, barbeque and now listening to James on 6Music. Cheers and enjoy yours.
Just got back from the pub having spent most of the day putting up a new plastic clad ceiling in the bathroom and wiring in some spotlights. Got a card and a half bottle of Glenlivet at 7:30 this morning followed by the OH telling me that SHE was having a lie in.
Watched the boy play rugby this morning. Lost to Wigan St. Judes but that was to be expected. Lusted over my Weber BBQ Father's Day present. Just about to open my Old Speckled Hen. Happy.
Got an early present yesterday, Mrs JJ said I could buy a road Bike... woohoo! just need to fork out what I want.
Today, early ride round Swinley, quick breakfast and card, then off to youngest little JJ's school to help set up the tea tent for Royal Ascot week.
Eldest little JJ made some nice Strawberry shortcake for pud.
Now sitting with a beer.
Pretty similar to pys. This w/e boys at their Mum's; I got a visit from youngest at 9am so he could collect his cricket gear after a few reminders to do so yesterday (no mention of father's day though or the present I helped him buy which is upstairs in his room). The eldest left a voice message at 3pm but no visit. I've tried hard to teach it's the thought that counts, seemingly not totally succeeding with that!
Got woken up by a cup of tea and my two girls singing a special fathers day song they wrote!
Then downstairs for a cooked breakfast with MTB UK (suprisingly OK considering I havn't read it since the 90's) and THE CYCLIST on the table along with a couple of craft ales for later.
Wife unfortunately had to work so I got a coupon for a unrestricted day off sometime soon
Took the kids to the beach with some friends and flew kites
Went to pub on way back for a pint of LongMan beer
Back now and drinking aforementioned craft ale whilst eating Pizza
Home made cards which seem to be mostly motif'd by a man holding a beer 😉 Day pass half used messing about on the bike pretending i was about eleven years old. Lazy afternoon watching WC DH with the occasional beer and then tucking into massive banoffee pie made by the youngest. So all in all not bad. Rang my dad for the first time in months, he wasn't in. Bit of a relief all round really 😉
Here's the 'pretending you're still 11' bit!
Woken by LimboJunior at an entirely civilised eight o'clock with cards made at nursery and some Daddy socks. Chilled morning playing Duplo with the lad after a bacon buttie and bucket of coffee. Then off to Ragley Hall for picnic and a bear hunt in the woods (didn't find any). Roast chicken dinner and a bottle of Aldi Tempernillo on the go with cheesecake for after Junior goes to bed. Blessings counted.
Little suckling learnt to ride properly yesterday no stabilizers are anything so we spent day out messing on bikes
Kids really did me proud today, lovely. Breakfast, lunch and cake for tea! Afternoon at mayhem site. Still a row with the wife has restored normality.
Pretty good for me. Mrs Danny was working so spent the day just me and babybgoode. Went to visit my mum this morning and went to the park and then home to cause chaos around the house.
Best bit is my present was a subscription to STW taking advantage of the rather fine offer they have on ATM.
Chilled with my children and my old man. Bikes not even had a look in this weekend.
potty training no1 man am i goosed but he's got a chest full of stickers so extensive he looked like a soviet general. proud dad. got out on the roadie for a couple of hours including dropping the old boys card off and a big crash grating most of the flesh from my arse an scuffing my 4 day old shiny shiny wheels. BASTIDS! still sipping a beer and listening to meringue now.
The Mrs and my 2 boys let me have a lie in and I was greeted with many hugs and a bacon buttie when I finally surfaced. Then presented with thoughtful and well considered gifts and left to watch the WC DH, Dauphine final stage and the Tour of Switzerland. Yeah happy me.
Decided to take advantage and go for a quick couple of hours on the MTB for the first time in a few weeks and it all went wrong from there.
Suffice it to say I am now restricted to the road bike until I can get the cash together to replace the now knackered 575, will have to arrange a suitably viking style funeral for the old girl. Shame too as she was just a few months from her 10th birthday.. 🙁
Got a card, went to work, now at home having a drink.
Working in the bike industry does mean going to work did involve watching the world cup 😉
We took Kevin out into the Peak for a fathers day ride, passed the remnants of last nights rave and finished off on the trail that shouldn't be used if its been wet. It was remarkably dry and in good condition, the drainage channels that have been dug seem to be working. Didnt see another rider until near the end where we popped out at the side of the Ladybower In for tea. A good day all round.
A mixture of pride and disappointment for me yesterday.
Five and a half month old mini RRR thoughtfully booked me a helicopter ride (co-pilot's seat no less) over Stanage edge and the surrounding area for yesterday.
However he didn't have the foresight to check the weather forecast so it had to be cancelled 🙁
He did however then buy me lunch at the fox house inn so it wasn't all a complete dissapointment 🙂
Got woken up with a nice cuppa and a breakfast of Greek yogurt and fruit, also got given some herb pots and a bottle of Rioja. After putting my tyres on my new wheels we all went to Conwy for icecream and mooch around the shops. I then had a nice relaxing afternoon watching the cycling before putting the roast beef in the oven which was superb and enjoyed by all and scored brownie point with the inlaws.
This was my present, extra riding time 🙂

That's great wwaswas, I shall have to show my wife that so she understands what's expected.
I had a pretty good Daddy day. 2 bikes rides!
out for 7am for a 15 mile pootle, during which I was passed by 4 roadies who were very friendly and one of them shouted as they passed 'come on tuck in,' me in baggies on a 26" hardtail. 'I'll have a go' I replied and duly did so and kept up (swoon) whilst chatting about cycling for a couple of miles until we parted routes. I love it when random strangers are friendly.
Then I spent all day with my little girl who has 'chicken spots' at the mo while the wife went shopping for holiday clothes. We watched 'spikabul me' and then played in the garden. We had our meal about 4 and then me and my mate went over cannock about 6 and did the Monkey, bone dry and dusty, Cannock's always a treat.
Has MrsWWW got a sister?
My fathers day ended by watching LittleMissMC sobbing with fear as her swimming teacher tried to coax her into the big pool to go out of her depth as she is just about done in the shallow training pool.
As a reluctant swimmer myself, I felt for her. But show her a 4" wide gymnastics beam and she will happily cartwheel along it. Kids, eh?
^ there is a sister yes but you wouldn't erm want to . Erm no.
Just no..
I think I was spoiled (spoilt?) as it was my first Father's Day. I expect next year it'll be socks or a lynx deodorant ...
I think WWW has misread the certificate. That's your next year's allowance! 😀
This was my present, extra riding time
"Resentment free" 😆
What's written on the paper isn't always the reality eh?
What's written on the paper isn't always the reality eh?
I don't know what you might mean. #innocentface
Fairly shit but got a lot done.
The ex had booked to take the kids away with her so didn`t see the kids at all. Fairly crap.
Although did manage to paid the house and burn the next-door neighbours garden down. It did need it.
Am I the only one saddened by the fact that grown men have to have some sort of pass just to go and keep themselves healthy & sane.
I'm not a father but am the principle carer for a wife with totally debilitating MS, she positively encourages me to go out riding as she understands its who I am.
There are a few on here that I know personally who have multiple children yet still manage plenty of riding and a good family life.
All of us need a little down time, you can be a dad and still ride.
First fathers day for me
Still had to do the early feed so no lie in, for some reason I ended up doing more than I normally do any other day of the week.
In-laws came over for home made lasagne and beer. The missus had organised a hand print on baby boba-ette in a frame with a picture of her in the floppy hat that makes me laugh and a pint glass with #1 Daddy on it. A day of baby smiles made it a pretty good one 😀
I was thinking the same MrOvershoot!
All of us need a little down time, you can be a dad and still ride.
I normally get about 6 hours a week (an evening plus a sunday morning) plus maybe a lunchtime so 8 hours riding a week, say.
This doesn't feel like it's too little but sometimes I get asked to do longer rides at a weekend and this can cause problems fitting in around family life, children etc. I understand this so tend not to ask as a smack in the mouth often offends (joke! but it has caused friction trying to balance my desire to ride a bike with hers to spend time with me and the family when she's not around much during the week).
My wife thought it would be a nice gesture to give me some 'free' extra time to spend how I wanted either with lots of smaller extensions to existing rides or a couple of big days out.
I don't understand what the problem is personally - it felt like a nice gesture and the wording around it made me laugh.
Please don't feel sorry for me, I couldn't cope.
I'm not feeling sorry for you 😉
Don't worry I have my own guilt transference in my life. It was more of a slight unease with the tone of the allowance?
Probably best to ignore me at the moment as I'm on holiday in Northumberland & have ridden almost every day 😀
I had a boss day. Taken to the Anderton boat lift, then taken out for a curry to a great curry house we know near Wigan,
Thanks Mrs. Coolhandluke.
😀
