Lovely, thanks.
Right then, just decided to have a crack at the local Parkrun on Saturday morning. I like a bit of competition and this seems like it might get the competitive juices flowing. 6 miles on the bike to get there as a warm up, 5km run, cycle home all with a raging hangover. That's a good idea, right?
yep.
Weigh yourself after you vomit but before you drink water to take the taste away, for maximum loss.
Is it too early to start getting excuses in for why you weight hasn't gone down or has actually increased?
I've eaten too many bananas.
I think my scales might be broken*
I've lost fat but gained muscle mass.
I'm a fat, lazy git with a sugar addiction and poor impulse control.**
*This is actually true - stood on them and they went Boing and stopped working....but I bought a new fancy dan, body fat, bone density measuring set during the week to replace them.
** This is also true. Don't judge me.

Not a bad idea that. I'm debating doing it powered merely by a double espresso. This means I might be able to add a bonk to the hangover for maximum discomfort. I'm excited!

A good strong espresso may also trigger the old bowels for added weight loss weigh-in win.

*Please don't take weapons grades laxatives in order to lose weight. It's not healthy.
Aaah, that Kieran. Long time no see/ride.Give me a shout if you fancy bringing the STW Cotswold Massiv (oh, the irony) back to life chap.
Hi Si, yep, no where near enough riding which has meant I'm now doing this. The STW Cotswold Massiv would be a good target as well maybe for the summer? I doubt I could get my fat arse up the hill at the moment 😳 and I think we might have put a few people off after the "Field of Doom" incident!
On the positive side a mix of no snacks, no beer, calorie controlled meals, a few sessions in the gym, starting swimming and competing with the missus on "steps" every day has already led to a 5lb loss in the first week and a tighter notch on the old belt 😀 Most importantly I'm actually enjoying it!
Actually looking forward with interest to my weigh in tomorrow
Went for my first post illness ride today, back from the garage after dropping my car off. 16 miles on my CX bike with no breakfast, whilst yesterday had the usual calorie deficit - in other words, I was running on empty.
It was neither fast, fun or pretty. Note to self - do not ride on an empty stomach!
Mrs Binners has bought a Fitbit. This is now getting out of hand!
Ooooh! OOOH! An idea for Dragon's Den.....the Fatbit.
Tracks the movement of your hand towards your mouth, sends you alerts when Greggs opens and buzzes if you don't consume 250 calories per hour.
It was neither fast, fun or pretty. Note to self - do not ride on an empty stomach!
The slow horrible ugliness was probably more to do with the post-illness bit. Riding 16 miles on an empty stomach is fine, I used to about 20 miles to work with just a cup of coffee beforehand, it's just a fasted ride (although you do have to get used to it a bit).
In fact, there's a fair bit of opinion that it's better than fine, it's actively fat-burningly muscle-buildingly good, and it's a significant portion of my Chub Club plan. It's the only significant portion of anything I'll be getting though 🙁
The office anorexic has recommended sugar free jelly as a filling alternative to actual food. As it's pretty much just suspended water you probly burn more calories looking at than it gives you.
No idea about the effect of artificial sweeteners, though.
I remember once eating too many sugar free sweets.
All that sorbitol completely wrecked my toilet.
Is it the weigh in tomorrow? Do I email or post here
Tails, mail I think, STW user name and your weight in lbs in the mail title.
Anyway, I've gone early as tomorrow I won't be at home to do the weigh in.
197.5lbs so 7.5lbs lost.
This means either my scales are faulty (not unlikely), the original weight was wrong (also not at unlikely), or I've lost 1/2 a stone in 2 weeks (feels less likely).
If true I'm chuffed and a little concerned at the same time. Let's see what it looks like in another 2 weeks.

For avoidance of doubtweigh in's (in lbs) on every other friday, starting tomorrow - exception is end Mar (because there are 13 weeks in a quarter and we want a 3mo check) when there will be an extra weigh in. I will post a reminder on here and by email although not sure all emails are getting through.
If you can email me with a subject line of <YOUR STW NAME> xxxlbs - eg: theotherjonv 200lbs then i don't have to 'read' 70 emails.
Feel free to post up on here as well with thoughts on how it's going, what's working (or not), etc. It's here the magic and motivation happens, I'm just keeping score.
If i don't get an email from you I'll just roll over your old weight. No expulsions for not sending data in, but obvs if you want to be removed let me know.
Updates won't be instantaneous on the s/sheet, but I'll aim to have them totaled and done by sunday eve.
OK?
Thanks guys
I'm still in work and the only thing stopping me from raiding my emergency chocolate bar / crisp pile, is knowing I have weigh in tomorrow morning.
Well done chub club!
I think my body is so confused by the sudden lack of sugar, it's refusing to lose any weight.
Im down a little, which isnt bad considdering I was actually up last weekend. This week I also demolished a kilogram tub of jelly babies.
The Missus isn't helping by replenishing the cupboard with sweet stuff from the sale isle quicker than I eat it!
Psa: 9p for 6 mince pies in morrisons.
Next fortnight will be better, Im planning to actually going to the gym.
Reading these forums, I am convinced you lot are all married to feeders whose dream man is a chubby cyclist 8)
@linge - hangover ? Booze esp beer is the worst for weight gain. Save money and weight, drink a bit less. Feel better all round.
Mrs Binners has [s]bought[/s] married a Fitbit
🙂
Not optimistic, went up 1lb, then down 2lb. I cannot claim any muscle mass increase. Glad I picked a modest first month target 😳
those were the numbers
Current 80.3kg
> 1 month 79.5
> 3 month 78
> 6 month 77
>
> Possibly modest numbers but real goal is increased muscle mass/fitness
(yes, they were in kg)
You didn't want them in KG?
😉
I'm away in the US away from scales, so I weighed Thursday. 217lbs - 10lb loss so far. Apparently severe calorie restriction putting your body into survival mode is another diet myth
Sent the email. Finding eating lower calories a bit easier now... first couple of weeks not bad, down to 82.8 from 87. Even had a couple of beers last night and managed to stay under the daily total.
Down from 118.6 to 115.1 kg. That's 261 to 254lbs in chub club money.
Happy with 7lbs loss in two weeks, and think my diet is easily sustainable and not at all extreme.
Roll on 100kg (and under!) 🙂
I'm down from 89.6 to 87.1 kgs or 196 to 192lbs in old money. Cutting out the carbs using bean and pulses instead of rice and pasta, also I have been dry since the New Year apart from a sly gin and tonic at the Boat Show last week.
Just weighed, 15st 1lb / 96kg.
4lb / 1.6kg off. Happy with that considering last week I lay on the sofa for best part of 3 days due to flu, and might have finished the xmas cheese off...... Only had 2 pints so far this year though, and been out on the bike 3 times.
Down to 250 from the official start of 256. I found out when I plugged the USB in the fancy scales this morning that I actually weighed 260 on 2nd Jan . Probably couldn't see it properly as my 24 pack was obscuring the view. Don't really care though as I'm very pleased to be sub 252 for the 1st time in a long while.
Only changed a couple of things in terms of diet (plenty of work still to do there). Not snacking at night and making sure I have breakfast before I leave for work and also taking a lunch in, so I'm not buying bacon rolls for breakfast and raiding the vending machine.
I'm down 4lbs which I'm ok with. Have the stinking lurgy this week so haven't been able to get out and run. Happy with 2lb a week, nice steady loss which will hopefully mean it will stay off.
Big congrats to those with big loss, Chub Club weigh in has stopped me reaching for the biscuits on more than one occasion
171.0-162.9 - but auto unzip belly is still a feature of cycle thermals. Entering the hard to lose phase.
10lbs loss here as well using the starvation myth diet 😀
215 > 205
Happy with that as a kickstart, next goal is sub 90kg
88.3kg (194lb) down to 86.2kg (190lb). Pleased with that as could certainly have been better. Wasn't able to exercise in the first week due to injury and had my wife's birthday meal last night which I didn't throttle back on, including wine. On track for my 187lb 1 month goal.
Well done those who've had big losses. Some impressive numbers already.
Think I might try and total the amount of money it has saved me too. I generally would get through a fair bit of cash during the week with buying breakfast and lunch at work. Then pop in the shop on the way home and grab a couple of bottles of beer, some crisps and chocolate too.
Maybe then I can use that to justify a purchase of a new bike or something 🙂
hangover ? Booze esp beer is the worst for weight gain. Save money and weight, drink a bit less. Feel better all round.
I am well aware of that.
But when you get offered a boozy lunch with the MD you don't turn it down.
Plus, I like booze, so as I intend to keep any weight I lose off then I need a plan that can deal with a few beers and the odd hangover. No point in having a plan that works for 4 weeks then as soon as the real world bites you're fat again, it's got to be maintainable.
Only 5lb off but 18lb of cheese consumed that I couldn't bring myself to throw out, comfort eating through a 7 day data migration, and four work nights out. Not a single pedal either 🙁
Surprised I lost anything at all, but I've cut down all portion sizes and cut out most unnecessary eating/snacking. Want to start properly from today to catch up (I'm 2lb behind schedule for month one).
Thanks again for doing this Jon.
7lbs loss here, I think the majority is attributable to a change of habits post Christmas, much less booze and food. I think the real test for me starts here, with business travel ramping up and the first few kg slipping off relatively easily.
2.5-3kgs down here so 214.5lbs and I've hit my 1 month target already despite not really doing much other than stop forcing mince pies down my throat.
New job means I now have to walk or ride a couple of miles a day to the office rather than roll across the landing to the spare room and it removes the temptation to just raid the cupboards and boredom eat. Hopefully the arrival of my wheels to finish the new bike will provide some motivation to get out and do a proper ride.
Consumed 18lb of cheese ? Is that actually possible !

Artistic licence. I'd give it a bloody go go though...
Definitely lost weight, but I won't find out how much until tonight: I'm on nights so it's technically still Thursday for me.
Been doing 10 mile a day on the turbo, Ice Cream Fitness via the Jefit app, and eating ~1900 calories with very little white carbs at all, so there would have to be something wrong to not lose weight.
