Stuff that makes you disproportionately cross

It's about 35 years since my grandpa died, and I remember his outrage not long before he passed when he had to pay 30p for a filter coffee.

I have just paid £3.20 for a little pot (2 cups worth) of tea, and now I understand how he felt. And I'm not even 80 yet!

One of my laptop sounds like a jet engine.  Stripped it down, pulled a sizeable dust bunny out the HSF assembly, put it all back together.  Nice and quiet now, a job well done.  Just as I've packed my screwdrivers away I realised, I forgot to reconnect the battery.  Arse.

I am pretty sure I've said this before but the use of "do" as a lazy word in a sentence. "I may do Snowdon" as an example. What are you going to do to it? I'd assume the poster means ride but it could be hike or simply look at.

At least they didn't say they had climbed Snowdon......

People who can't just sit on the seat that they've booked on a train, because they want to sit next to their friend/colleague, causing utterly unnecessary palaver

"Hi, I have that aisle seat booked"

"And I have the window seat booked" says a lady behind me

"Yeah, but my seat's up there and my friend's is in the next carriage but I'm on until Wolverhampton and my friend is on until Stoke and I know this is booked until Stockport and the window one is booked to Manchester but we want to sit together and if you use mine until I get off then my friend will go back to the one she's got booked and the lady can come and use hers"

{sigh}

"I have that seat booked"

{hard stare}

"Yeah, but.."

{hard stare}

{much harrumphing and gathering of piles of crap and shuffling of fat arses down the train}

"Its not hard, is it" says the lady now seated beside me.

Catheter seems most likely. But now been told she is moving to a rehab ward so presumably they are happy with her condition.

Deliberate "litter" . Arrived home from Norway a week ago and the state of this country compared with there is appalling. I see none at all when we go, even around docks, airports and the odd fast food joint. Anyway what is especially annoying is the crap that people think is acceptable. I drove past 5 miles of pink ribbons tied to trees every 50 yards. No idea what for although someone said it marked a funeral route. What ever, it didn't need to stay there for over a week! grrr

Agreed with the luggage thing. Mine was 17kg with 6 paperback books,  and some gluten free snacks etc just in case. And that was excessive!Hers was 10kg more with multiple choices of outfits and 3 waterproof jackets plus tea, coffee etc. I'll forgive her the 50ml of gluten free vinegar she put in for me.

Unless they went up one of the Trinities. If so, kudos in winter, but you'd probably ask Why? in summer 🙂

Whilst I agree with everything else you've said, "pink ribbons" is probably breast cancer so... well... yeah.

Hopefully they'll clean up again afterwards.  They won't, of course, which is more justifiably crossmaking IMHO.  [EDIT: I missed the 'over a week' part so, fair enough.]

Very petty this one but hey, that's the idea right? Excessive use of utensils when cooking. We have a agreement. One does the cooking, one clears up. When I'm cooking, I clean up as I go along and try to minimise the washing up by rinsing and reusing pans, bowls etc. as I go. I wipe up any spills and put used ingredients away. There's often not much more than the plates and cutlery to sort out after we've eaten.

When my OH cooks she uses every pan, steamer, baking tray, spoon, peeler, and kitchen gadget we own and leaves them piled up in the sink* or on the counter tops. Half used bottles of spices, sauce or ingredient boxes litter the surfaces as far as the eye can see. I can't enjoy my evening meal knowing I have a load of pan bashing and tidying afterwards.

I now do nearly all the cooking now.  I feel I've been played.

*Because the dishwasher is full. I empty it in prep when I cook. Ahhhghhh......!!

One does the cooking, one clears up.

I came to this arrangement with an ex.  It lasted about a fortnight for exactly the reasons you suggest.  She could make cornflakes using every bowl, pan and spoon in the house.  And burn them.

You cook, you also clean.  Take turns.

MrsMC trying to advise me what the next steps should be regarding my mums rehab, support and visiting.

I'm sure she means well and thinks she's being supportive but she was 180 miles away when her brothers and sister-in-law were sorting all this for her parents.

All these folk posting themselves on YouTube laying bricks like they are doing something that hasn't been done for hundreds of years although all these ones using profiles probably would struggle to build a corner without them

Then there's the guy from Yorkshire who calls himself the stone dresser, all he's doing is snapping the back off a piece of reclaimed stone and thinks it's a trade. Couldn't imagine city and guilds giving that accreditation for something you should be accomplished after a fortnight max

Snobbish gatekeeping gets on my nerves 😉

I climb the stairs in my house. I also climb Snowdon.

See also: people who say "it's not even music it's just noise" or similar, when it's a genre they don't like.

This is the solution.

Snobbish gatekeeping gets on my nerves 😉

It's not gatekeeping. It's just using the English language correctly.

I climb the stairs in my house.

Each to their own. I generally just walk up the stairs in my house  unless I am seriously drunk.

PS. I don't care if CED agrees with you. It's wrong too 😉

My social media pages are full of helicopter rescues from our local mountains - there's a lot of injuries and fair few deaths (3 in march and april this year alone) - mainly ill-equipped inexperienced walkers from the looks of it. The media (and to be fair the public posting) always report 'climbers' just like they report 'ebikes' and the 'real' climbers love to weigh in about how it's not climbers it's walkers. As if it makes a difference, it doesn't bring back dead people back to life.

People who put jars and cans in the cupboard without the labels facing out. Takes a second, saves me a few seconds. I'm truly disproportionally cross.

People who don’t charge the battery on things.

When working in random places, if I have the opportunity I charge my laptop, I always explain this when training people.

There may not be a socket available at the next location.

Everyone I work with seems to not do this.

Predictably this results in a laptop shutting down mid job. Grr. Off to piss about  with extension leads then?

Or repeatedly turning up with a tablet with 10% charge, presumably assuming I’ll do all the paperwork.

See also, only putting in 10litres of diesel to save time.

How does it save time? It doesn’t. It isn’t the money, there’s a fuel card.

All topped off with a gormless “ohh, it’s got low charge/nearly empty” at a really inconvenient moment. Like it’s a complete surprise!

Almost as good as:-

Me- “Do you have a spare cartridge for that work thing in your van?”

Them- “I’ve got one at home”

Why would you pick said cartridge up from the office then take it out of the van?

It’s not even something you could use at home.

I should have just said Colleages.

The vending machine at work is refrigerated to keep cans of drink cool.  It does mean that the McCoys also come out chilled and it's a bit weird.  Crisps need to be room temperature to fully savour them.  Not sure it makes me cross, but it doesn't make me as happy as usual when stuffing them in my face.

Edgbaston last year was ridiculous and Lords yesterday was a joke.
