I've no idea why they're so big
I disagree.
I counter-disagree.
In my experience, of all the quick cramps I've used, I avoid these ones at all costs.
I've not got small hands but the distance to squeeze is way too big and hard to get a good force through (ime). They never seem not to move. I was using them yesterday as unfortunately the workshop I work at has loads of these. Trying to clamp a timber/steel sandwich while i drilled it. They just keep moving. Absolutely terrible.
The clamping feel is weird. It's a kind of dead feeling. Then they move. Other clamps you can actually feel the force increasing and gauge it. These just feel dead and lack feel.
They're also big and unwieldy (compared to other clamps) and unnecessarily difficult to get into tight positions. They're awful when trying to clamp smaller, delicate items as the weight and size mean they can move or move the things you're trying to clamp.
The rubber pads always fall off and people lose them.
Absolutely hate them. 😂
These Irwin ones are cheaper, smaller, clamp better, have excellent feel, don't move, easy to grip and manipulate one handed. Infinitely better ime.
Yeah, I've a number of those blue ones too.
Irwin make two or three types, some a heavier duty than the others.
Of the yellow I've a few of the 5' long ones which are handy for long cabinets that are held together with biscuits.
Dog poo bags and litter make me angry, but that's perfectly reasonable so those don't belong on this thread.
Dog walkers who think hanging dog sh!t bags on trees/bushes is a good way to not bother disposing of it
Dog walkers who do this should be hung from the bushes by their genitals or staked out at bottom of a tree where dogs pee...
To be fair, I do leave some and pick them up on the way back. Weirdly (so i am told by my kids), I have both offered to take other people’s bags off them and cheekily palmed off mine when others are heading back toward the bin.
Is this where I admit that I don’t have a dog….?
Oxford Union debates. Tonight's should be "this house proposes that everyone in this room is a ****"
(And I've used the word I rarely use there).

Cambridge Union debates are much better! The YouTube channel is quite interesting with some of the speakers they get. Mike Pence was good but giving little away.
My peeve today - "auditors". Some camouflage wearing goon has been escorted off the premises and is now flying a drone around the building, so we've been told to lower the blinds.
Not sure what the Daily Wail will do with footage confirming civil servants do come into the office though. (It's a rest day from our Peloton training when we work from home)
Auditors really are a carbuncle on the arse cheek of society. Someone worked out once that there's money to be made from antagonising minimum wage security guards and hopefully provoking a reaction. Well done, you've proven that Karen on Reception isn't well versed in the minutiae of Trespass law, have a biscuit.
If I got one of those bastards on site I'd give them a guided tour of the building.
One of those ****y ‘auditors’ turned up at our place a while ago. He was polite and our security guys were as well. He said he was going to fly a drone over the premises and was told that was fine and asked if he could check the state of the roof on the main office block.
That threw him totally and he wandered off.
My Oxford Union one might have worked better with the knowledge that mogg and yaxley- Lennon amongst others were taking part.
That threw him totally and he wandered off.
Pro tip if you do get one on your site. If you are going to engage with them then play commercial music, on a BT speaker if you have one. It'll bollocks them for posting it, YouTube will demonetise or outright ban it for IP infringement.
The BBC Weather app.
When scrolling through the weather for the day, and when the "end" of the day is reached, it then jumps to the next saved location rather than just moving on to the next day. Wtf!
"But I'm picking it up on my way back!"
We need a Great Lies Of Our Time thread.
But that's not all dog walkers. Besides, he's never done that before - you must have provoked him.
The constant discussion of football in work tea breaks by almost everyone. Jesus wept it's boring.
Literally nobody wants to discuss the mountainbike World Cup instead. Dicks.
Her "why are you always so stressed just before we go on holiday"
Her holiday todo list:
Pack bikini,passport,book
My holiday todo list;
Clean, vaccuum car
Replace tyre on car and check fluids, fill up with petrol as we are leaving super early
Find keys for and fit roofbars, roofbox, bike rack
Check insurance docs are in glovebox, get euro breakdown cover, check we have V5 etc in glovebox, spare bulbs plus other French stuff needed.
Check health insurance still covers the young adults, check they have their correct passports and Ehics (both dual nationals so more complicated)

Pack bike and associated kit
Work out rough route
Book Tunnel
Chase 2x young adults to have their bags packed well before we leave and not 30 seconds before we leave. Explain it will be very hot so pack accordingly and that we do not have much space for the kitchen sink as we are already taking aforementioned watersports kit. pack their sunhats even though they are young adults.
Buy suncream
Find my wife's walking boots
And mine.
Ensure we have enough emergency water in car as we are driving right into the epicentre of a heat dome.
Explain what a heat dome is to 3 disinterested people in the vain hope they will understand its going to be hotter than normal.
Wonder whether I should bother to take my bike
Pack my mankini,passport and book
What have I forgotten? Argghhhhhhhh
Clean, vaccuum car
Don't bother
check they have their correct passports and Ehics (both dual nationals so more complicated)
Sounds like their job (how old are they?)
Work out rough route
Google Maps it on the day
Chase 2x young adults to have their bags packed well before we leave and not 30 seconds before we leave.
Sounds like a them problem
pack their sunhats even though they are young adults.
I mean, come on
Ensure we have enough emergency water in car as we are driving right into the epicentre of a heat dome.
You're driving to France, not Mars, they have shops and service stations and I presume you have aircon

They're probably thinking "We're driving to France, not Mars, they have shops and service stations and we have aircon"
What have I forgotten?
That if you chase after adults like they're children, they'll act like children?
Winston's post is today's reminder that single life ain't that bad.

Haha - I love my wife and my kids, plus she earns 4 times my salary and fills out the aforementioned bikini just fine so the pros very much outweigh the cons.
I stress so she doesn't have to.

tell you what mate, you get a flat on a French autoroute in 40 degrees and report back to me how not having any water went for you.

I have done (well it was 37deg) and, you know what they have on French autoroutes? Service stations. And they're generally really nice too, and they sell really nice food and drink.
I'm not saying you won't want to have any drinks in the car, but you don't have to act and pack like you're overlanding the Sahara.

It's alright in a couple of weeks it'll be tennis.
Like a while back it was paddling a boat quickly on a river.
Radio 2 idents: "NOW..." *long pause* "THIS IS..." *another long pause* "name of presenter".
The "now" is superfluous as well. What else could precede "this is"?
'Answering' a post with copy/paste AI fluff.
Please, just don't bother.
Spotted the neighbour's cat near to the blackbirds' nest last night; it fled on sight. Fledglings are horribly quiet this morning 😞
I hope that they made it out during the evening. Cats should be geo-fenced to their own gardens
Retired people who wait till the weekend to get out the noisy 2 stroke gardening equipment.
You have 50 hours in the week to make a good awful racket but oh no .. you wait till Saturday afternoon to start strimming.
Why not do it when the vast majority of your neighbours are in work.
Inconsiderate bell ends .

+1
and for me living in the NW of these islands with cloud and rain seeing all the fuss on the news channels about a UK heatwave... when really they mean the SE of England ... 😕
How about those whinging about the heat generally? Alright I'll let you if you are 80+ and live in an oven for a house but otherwise ? nah. It's just warm. We won't die on the whole (most of us) and it's much nicer than 1 degree and pissing down.
In a month a good chunk of the whingers will be off to Spain anyway.
Magpies and woodpigeons are making me DC just recently. The local blackbird pair are clearly feeding a 2nd brood, but every time I scatter a handful of dried mealworms on the lawn for them, the bloody maganpies or sky rats get to them first. Grrr. The dog is useless, can't be bothered chasing them off.
Really loud motorbikes.
The riders selfish aresholes. And clearly deaf.
Please, just don't bother.
We got a delivery of new towels from John Lewis* yesterday. They came in bubblewrap.
*what can I say, I'm pretty flash.
No. We've got enough of those bastards round here as it is.
Yeah, I'm not keen (wonders how many people have been around here long enough to get joke)
People going on about the heat/sunny weather when I haven't seen the sky through the clouds for 2 days and have had the lights on all day because it's so dark.
The fridge, or the operation of and my OHs inability to adjust the dial slightly.
Everything is frozen, so it gets turned right down, shockingly it’s then too warm, so it gets set to maximum cooling and so the cycle continues.
People who think that putting "fact!' at the end of their ignorant, ill-informed, bigoted, racist or misogynistic word salad somehow transforms it into the fount of truth.
People that use the cellophane luggage wrapping service at airports. Just euthanase them, now.
Zia Yusuf on Question Time complaining that the BBC are biased against Reform, despite him being an unelected representative sitting on Question Time panel representing a party of 8 MPs, whilst Liberal Democrat’s, with 71 MPs don’t get a seat at the table.
Steel bands.
They sound dreadful. Tinny, barely in tune, samey, dreadful.
But wait, how about a solitary busker playing loud, beige muzak through an amp and accompanying it with his absolutely awful steel pan playing in a busy shopping market that unfortunately I have to walk through?
That's right. Double dreadful! Probably even triple! 😂
If I'm in Grenada, Jamaica, Barbados etc, then perhaps I can endure the racket, but Stratford upon Avon? No!
Steel bands. Deposit thine selves in the ocean.
