Stuck near Belper? Have you closed your windows and locked your doors?

I'm in Belper watching people struggle to drive up the hill off the A6, could be the reason!

Because no one reads the winter car tyres threads?

The A6 always has problems Belper/Matlock way - it's not like it's a main trunk road into the area or anything.

Hope you get sorted soon. I'm hoping the snow lasts long enough for a snowy night ride tonight round the arctic wilderness that is Ilkeston....

Maybe the "gritter" is stuck behind you?

Probably because every hill out of the valley is lethal!

I work the other side of Matlock, and left work just before 3pm. Had to drive up Slack Hill and down into Matlock. That was interesting in a car that's rubbish in snow - nearly didn't make it up the slack.

It really is piss poor!!! [s]Not seen a single gritter on this[/s] I maybe should have reconsidered if I could wait or not make the journey [s]so far[/s]! at all.

The gritters are probably stuck behind the traffic, I used to drive one.. When I suggested heli-drop gritters they looked at me funny..
The great ideas always get poo poo'd.. 😕

Was alright getting back from Nottingham earlier, a bit of slow traffic but our old Audi A6 with decent tyres is chuffing awesome. Always good when you have a van sliding sideways down the hill towards you over Tideswell moor.

From Denby (yes as in the pottery) to belper 1 hr 50 mins! Locals will wonder why a6, because people can't drive in heage! And yes I'm a very naughty boy leaving work early, just to cause traffic carnage all on my own! 🙄

Winter tyres are as good as the tit in front of you with his lowered nova running on 255/18/35's.
Should be made compulsory!

by all accounts Leeds is gridlock city this evening. I've driven home from Darton (near Barnsley) to Baildon (north of Bradford) in about the usual time. Lighter than usual traffic in places, perhaps they're all stuck in Leeds

Had to push a few cars when out for a run today.

I do wonder what people are thinking at times, turn up a steep road festooned with cars sliding all over the place. People turning, slithering, getting stuck. And think to themselves, I know I'll drive up this road.
