Ramped up to 60kn in front of my place. Front window bowing more than glass ought to.
The hurst castle anemometer now shows 70kn
Feirce to be outdoors in this, especially with the accelerated airflow round buildings
Off to work, should be a lively drive.

For the brave (or stupid)..... some great Strava segment KOM opportunities today. 🙂

If they're in the right direction.

years ago I got a top 10 on a road section (out of several thousand) on a SS mtb. Earlier that evening I was going into the wind, opened my mouth and got a gust so fierce I couldn't breathe, which was quite a disconcerting feeling.

Some serious skills on show. If I were a passenger, I would be quite happy to be diverted away from London today!

I'm currently debating a go at a local on. I know it's a bad idea, but I'm still thinking about.

It seems to have missed my part of South Wales, we had a few gusts, but it's milder now than it has been for the last few days.

Our red warning is set to expire at midday, we'll be in amber then until late evening.

On quite a few of the landings at Heathrow on that stream, I think the passengers on the right of the plane next to the windows can see the runway on approach.... 😦

Twister spotted in Cornwall!

Quite common in the UK actually - had one over the Llyn Penninsula last summer.

Currently in Swindon and it's properly strong. Hoping it all calms down a bit relatively soon as I don't want them closing the Prince of Wales bridge and have to drive all the way up to Gloucester to get home to Cardiff from Bristol!

also did you miss the 😉

It was just a general thought not spefically aimed at you 🙂

Not at my house. Just been out to nail a trellis to a fence temporarily. This is not bad compared to a windy day out in the mountains or at the coast, but it's windier than I've ever seen it at this house.

yeah I had about 50 last summer, I'd say they're a lot less common at this time of year though.

It would appear we (southern UK) are currently experiencing the strongest winds anywhere around the globe!

My wife had to go into work today, despite every other department (local authority) told not to. Because the post that no-one is there to produce has to be sent out.

Anyway she took my volvo rather than her soft-top, and when i chucked a sleeping bag, mat and pillow in the boot she scoffed. Currently all roads in and out of lyndhurst blocked with fallen trees, so she might be glad of my foresight!

I  cycled to work this morning. My office is on the seafront on the South Coast.

It was a 'brisk' if not entirely sensible decision

wind is exciting on the 6th floor. May pop down to the beach in a bit.

Small rant. Had an e-mail from our child's nursery at 10 saying they were closing at 12 and could all parents come and collect their children by then.
Where we are the storm is peaking right now and it's seriously windy out there.

If they were worried about safety of parents, children and staff surely then wait out the storm and close at 4, meaning that parents could see what damage had been done and plan, rather than be out while the damage is happening in the middle of a red warning.

And kids in pushchairs in 74mph gusts. No thanks!

Wife had to drive from work to pick up as small branches etc falling around her, couple of trees down but not quite blocking the road. Potential there for serious injury.

Shits getting real!
