Who agrees with him? I know it's troll feeding but hey ho.
I don't as he hasn't given a single bit of credible argument to this thread.
Keep reeling 'em in Shib! 😆
I have a tattoo, i may be considered thick by some, not so by others, don't see why all the tatooed folk are getting so wound up at shib, it's funny both ways- his (possibly misguided) opinion, and you lot for biting so hard.
Wonder if this can go as long as the Scottish independence thread.
Scottish Independence will be done and dusted before the end of the year. Tattoos are for life.

In my experience, the tattooed classes typically share the following characteristics:
- A certain naïveté and badly formed sense of style and taste
Tattoos that depict a style that the wearer has recently adopted, eg. Look at all the goth wannabes, 50's pin-up stylers, music-orientated tattoos, often on young people who have recently "discovered themselves"
- a very short-sighted attitude
See above - if they can't foresee that their tastes WILL change considerably over the coming years, they're VERY shortsighted.
- a propensity to adopt a rather immature "two-fingers" attitude to society
You only need to read the attitudes of the inked on here to understand this one - the sort of people who wear shorts/vests in winter and then get all uppity when we pass an opinion on them.
- a desperate need to feel part of a niche
A good example would be the born-again cyclist that I race against. He's had a bike tattooed on his arm, has Specialized stickers on his BMW... Nuff said.
- an alarming lack of originality and a sheep-like mentality
The inked bleat on about how original, unique, different they are, and that their tats are an expression of that individuality, and yet the overwhelming majority plagiarise other tattoos or styles in some way or another.
- high levels of narcissism and pretentiousness
The very act of adorning your body with your 'creative thoughts' is a narcissistic act. Don't really think that needs expanding upon any further.
So, who wants to start?
Mine is a piece of artwork that was done by a close family member who was subsequently killed in a car accident. She was a very talented artist and I miss her every day.
Which of your statements does that cover?
All... But 5 and 6 mostly.

Well everyone's entitled to an opinion I suppose, but opinions shouldn't be confused with facts.
Thank you all for a delightful thread.
I may have to go and get my first tattoo simply to a) ensure the enduring disdain of and b)guarantee I can never be employed by Shib.
No problem Tomkerton... These threads have a habit of weeding out the idiots. 😉

I was thinking along the same lines 🙂

quiet.
So I take it the majority largely agree with me.
I think the majority can't believe this thread is still going on.
I'm so punk rock that my tattoo's tattoo has its own tattoo.
This thread is apparently more interested than the threateningly doomed NHS, which in itself is interesting.
Leg tattoos? Great if you want, great if you don't, each to their own. My calves seem to have a predilection for chainring scarification, some interesting and persistent patterns are normally on show.
I'll take on your initial points, got nothing better to do today:
I hate tattoos, I make no secret of it, but the thing I hate most is the self-righteous indignation of the inked when you pass an opinion on it.
You do, however, feel that it's ok to pass on your self-righteous indignation to whoever will listen regarding people with tattoos and how you feel about them? acceptable for one, but not for the other? is this because you feel that you are intellectually superior based on the fact you made a different choice in life?
For god's sake, you had a tattoo as some sort of self-expression. An expression is useless if it falls on deaf ears.
If the tattoo means something to the person but never shows it off, then it's not offensive to you. If they do show it off, then surely it becomes useful?
So, for the record, my opinion of all tattoos: Chavvy. Cheap, chavvy, short-sighted, foolish chaviness by attention seaking, chavvy chavs hell-bent on confrontation.
For the record, you seem to have a real problem with anyone you deem to be from a lower class than yourself. I'm guessing that you don't normally brush shoulders with these people unless you're actually trying to throw off the shackles your past in some fashion, perhaps grew up in a "chavvy" household and don't want your new friends to find out......I don't know, maybe I'm being judgmental about someone I don't know.
here are some chavvy people with tattoos

You obviously need to get out more, as any experienced person can see that yours is limited.
Chavvy. Cheap, chavvy, short-sighted, foolish chaviness by attention seaking, chavvy chavs hell-bent on confrontation.
Has it never occurred to you that labelling people as "chavs" says absolutely nothing about them, but speaks volumes about you?
Aaaaaaaargh - That tat of Dimbleby's makes my inner entomologist scream in rage - the scorpion is an arthropod within the class Arachnida, they have eight legs not six. Someone fetch a rubber....oh!
8 legs? Well I never knew that.
It's an education in itself this thread.

I know what you're saying.
Some people eh?
And others here are perfect in every form.
Who actually cares if you have a tatto?
It's something you wear the same as clothes.
Just make sure what you get is what you want as it ain't coming off without covering it with another or laser.
Enjoy your body. Enjoy your skin. Enjoy you. Don't give a shit about whatever someone else tells you. They are clerely insecure. The walls in their houses are magnolia and have a 9 to 5 job they hate. They would love to have an affair with the secretary but she's dobbing dave from accounts who looks like a tribal warchief.
Well some quite subtle examples there Boba Fatt and I don't think I would raise any objection to them. I mean, I thought it was pretty normal that my dad had a couple of tattoos from his army days. But a lot of the stuff on display these days is simply gross. I offer no comment on the intelligence of those who are heavily tattooed other than to say to generalise is utterly stupid.
I just don't like the look of them.
It's something you wear the same as clothes.
Permanently glued-on clothes. You might be able to glue on more, but it's pretty painful trying to remove them.
I think Shibboleth has had an encounter with tattoos that has scarred him in some way.
There is treatment.
If the nasty man hurt you there is therapy available.
Poor you.
Edit: show everybody on the dolly where he touched you.
Neck tattoos on the other hand look bloody awful

makes ordering a Chinese takeaway easy though, you can just point at your neck...

Tattoos are supposed to be scientifically accurate??

I wouldn't give him a job. Well not in the same room as me anyway.

Just accurate would be a start. 🙂
I think the majority can't believe this thread is still going on.
I'd put money on the majority reading this and nodding in agreement. The thing with these threads is that the vocal few with tattoos fall over themselves to justify their stupidity whereas the silent majority are happy to read in silence rather than expose themselves to the rantings of the tattooed classes.
I've yet to read any compelling, eloquent or even remotely interesting counter-arguments to the points I raised a couple of pages ago.
The octopus on my leg only has 7 tentacles as adding the 8th in made the particular design look a bit messy. I'm sure this will end up upsetting some sad bastard one day 🙂

I suggest you stop now, take 20mg diazepam and your world will be calm again.
Try CBT. If that fails mindfullness is excellent. Let the past go and look forward to the furure. Embrace tattooed people.
What if you had a terrible off on your bike? Broken leg say (Ihope this doesn't happen by the way). The doctor fixing you has the date of birth of his still born daughter on his leg with a teddy. Based on your rantings I take it you would refuse to be treated.
Shib is the most trolly of trolls and never lets fact or truth sway him in his stance. I think he secretly is a journalist for the daily mail as his stance and arrogance fits beautifully with their closed mineded slightly right wing ideals. He is very amusing though and I would love to have a pint with him to show him the error of his ways before possibly scraping his face off with a hammer drill just for fun

The thing with these threads is that you are a complete bell end. If you want a serious discussion, stop raising such idiotic arguments.
Do you really honestly think that every tattoed person's motivation is the same?
I'll video it Tazz.
Better still we could give him tattoos. A few swans on his neck, tear drop beneath his eye, swastika on the forehead and a full sleeve of his left arm depicting an enormous penis.
3....tattoo....1...
I don't get why the Mods haven't banned Shib, he's on a par with TJ.....
Hopkins,
The only woman I would gladly punch. Over and over and over......
punching is still feeding. As is this, gaaaah do we EVER learn?
Mods must be sitting outside for their lunch.
I don't get why the Mods haven't banned Shib, he's on a par with TJ.....
Possibly because I've justified my opinions in a thorough fashion?
Iolo on the other hand has suggested causing me grievous bodily harm and is now bragging that he'd happily assault a woman! Classy.
It's a good job I don't judge all tattooed people on the basis of iolo's shortcomings as a human being. 🙄
To be fair, I've not come across anyone so intent on being disliked by so many. And revelling in it too. It's almost admirable for its steadfastness.
On a serious note, to be that sociopathic in real life would be a worrying trait - and I doubt Shibby's really like this. Wanting others to think that of you is pretty worrying too. All in all, an interesting case study for a university psychology student working on a paper on the Gyges Effect.
