I had to look it up... madness! Looking forward to it though... they've done no wrong yet (in my eyes)... bring it on.
Yeah, I mean if I had to suggest some people that would do a decent job of it, then those two would near the top, but really, it's perfect (the original) leave it the **** alone.
is it a "remake" though? being a tv series 😕

You're right I think technically it's a spin off even 43 odd years after the original.
It will be fine,as long as they get someone good to voice the trailer 😆

Not strictly a "remake", but **** me, they can't leave anything alone. One I most certainly will be avoiding.
Blimey, just noticed kimbers posted it in January 2023! They've just got brave enough to release the shite then!

could be really good though! Remember when Liam Neeson used to be a good actor? It'll be nice to see him doing something other than shite action movies. I think he might be pretty funny. I also really like Akiva Schaffer and Seth MacFarlane's work, they've done some very funny stuff in the past! Actually quite looking forward to this one 😂

Going by the trailer, he's diversifying into shite action comedies
Well, coming up this year we have a 'Lilo and Stitch' movie, a remake of 'How to Train Your Dragon' (just why?), another Superman, Highlander, The Running Man, Blade...
Sat through a whole bunch of trailers the other day and not one was for an original story.
Saw "The Running Man" in your list there and got very sad, despite the Arnie one being terrible. The I looked at IMDB and saw that the new one has Edgar Wright directing and a different synopsis than the classic version and a _tiny_ glimmer of hope came back.
Highlander & Blade are not coming out this year, don't think they've even started filming yet? The "trailers" available online are just fan made using AI.
The Running Man makes more sense as I believe it's an adaptation of the book, which the Arnie original (as great as it is!) wasn't.
@martinhutch The dead hand of venture capital strikes again - studios under huge pressure from VC shareholders not to take risks and to only greenlight projects that are guaranteed to generate a return.
Unfortunately it doesn’t quite work like that.

Cavil's Highlander starts filming in September, aiming for a 2027 release.

Indeed. The Running Man film bears little to no resemblance to the book. There's a film called Series 7 which is closer.

Oh please no... I mean the original highlander was an objectively terrible film that somehow turned out awesome...
I mean.. Queen sound track, Sean Connery playing a camp Spanish mentor with an ancient katana, the crazy scarey goth/psycho villain.. Even Lamberts wooden performance worked somehow.
The planets must have aligned for that one.
Some things should just be left in the past.
There can be only Juan! 😛

Despite being chief metallurgist to King Charles the 5th of Spain, Juan Sanchez Villalobos Ramirez was Egyptian.
Yes, I've watched this film far too many times. It's one of my all-time favourites. I've done the "I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod" speech in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel, though it was not 1518 and whilst time will tell I'm reasonably sure I'm not immortal.
Ramirez was Egyptian.
So not Japanise then...one can only assume he 'procured' the 'priceless' katana from a previous beheading, further back in time.
Then the silly so-and-so managed to get decapitated by a drunk cyber-goth with a meth addiction, how unfortunate!
a remake of 'How to Train Your Dragon' (just why?),
It's a live action version but it looks basically like a shot-for-shot remake of the animated version.

Nope. It was a wedding gift from a Japanese swordmaker when Ramirez married his daughter.
The "priceless" sword you're probably referring to was the Toledo Salamanca, which belonged to Fasil at the start of the film and was worth "only about a million bucks."
Did I mention that I've seen this film far too often? 😁

I very much approve of this content.
Forgive me father, I am a worm.
I stand corrected! 😀
I've actually got a replica of that sword in the loft somewhere...it's sharp but it's no katana, it's basicaly a katana shaped very big kitchen knife...
I can tell it's a replica, as the dragon head handle is made from composite plastic rather than ivory, and the blade isn't full tang 🤣
16 year old me had good taste though, it's a cool thing to have, I think I paid about £100 for it back in the day.
Doesn't really belong in this thread, but for anyone that likes Highlander (and presumably other bonkers 80's movies) - this is very much worth 10 minutes of your time!
Contains lot of plot spoilers, but it does seem like the full movie may never see the light of day anyway... 🙁
On that note, If you haven't seen 'Ong Bak 2" yet... it's the best martial arts movie ever.
Watch it with subtitles though as the dubbed version just ruins the vibe.
Ong Bak was brilliant...wasn't aware there was a second (and I appear to be 16 years late with that discovery)!
I've been trying to find Police Academy on streaming services and it is only the Naked Gun films I can find. I want the TV series as it was ridiculously daft and funny. Annoyingly, I'm laughing at the new Naked Gun trailer...

Think you mean Police Squad, not academy 🙂

because black or people from outside the UK or even Europe would be very very uncommon in the 12th or 13th century.
3000 years ago, Europeans were Black, with blue eyes. In Henry VIII time, he had a Black senior member of his crew on the Mary Rose, effectively a member of his security, and in Elizabeth London there were Black business owners.

Couldn't you have just checked your watch?

There was an African Roman legion on Hadrian's Wall. This is an interesting watch:
