not a film but tv series - had no idea that "life on mars" was remade for the US market - picked up a box set as stocking filler for mrs antigee and got approval until fired up to find action transferred to NY with "actors" pulled in from car wash duties in LA

Remaking The Intouchables. Without subtitles and I think set in in the US. My favourite film. My son is outraged. Ironic as None of the Tired clan wanted to watch it originally, but I said give it five minutes and if you don’t like it, I’ll turn it off. They’ve all seen it more than once.

18 episodes (plus deleted scenes and bloopers!) on 5 DVDs labelled "the complete series"

quite enjoy but mainly for the nostalgia of gross sexism in the workplace and smoking in pubs etc [stw is now a smiley free zone]

I’d like a remake of Terminator 1.

*wispers* I quite enjoyed Aladdin, and the jungle book remakes

But I think that was because I enjoyed the originals. Never cared for dumbo.

Looking forward to the Lion King...

My 8 year old boy thought the new version of True Grit was better after watching both over a week…I is disapoint.

I think he’s got great taste. I’d take the dude over the fat plank of wood that is a John Wayne any day of the week.

Spider-Man not a remake either. Just Marvel helping Sony to make proper films involving the web slinger.

WTF have they done to Wurzel?

No!

They cannot re-make the fresh Prince as some sort of coming of age/class/race commentary, especially without the comedy and most importantly without Will Smith!

It's just lazy at this point, it's not "re-imagining" it's just rehashing.

Certain things are in and of their times, if a tale or trope is worth retelling then write a new story to do it... I'm with the OP on this, any writer who drafts a script for one of these should be drummed out of the guild.

Agree. A simple mashing-up would've provided a bucket of original material: The Bel-Air Witch Project.

That Bel-Air thing is just a trailer. Sort of a concept piece.

Out of them, only Home Alone was any good. But even then the first hour and a half is slow and it only gets going at the end. By modern film standards, the old version doesn't have the constant action entertainment that kids like.

I waiting for the LOTR remake in 2040

Amazon funded TV series in development right now, so no need to wait that long - probably be out in a couple of years time.

There's a big difference between making a film of a book and a series of a book. So that's allowed IMO.

Well out of that list none will take any harm of being remade as they were all shite.

"Lana is a true visionary - a singular and original creative filmmaker - and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter"

Or to put it another way “From the people who brought you Jupiter Rising and Cloud Atlas.”

I actually quite enjoy the loonacy of the Warchowskis' recent output. Cloud Atlas is one of my favourite 'it's so bad it's good' movies!

It's not a remake - it's The Matrix 4.

(Thread is about remakes, not sequels, you see)

Jacob’s Ladder.

What? The Tim Robbins one?

@Drac re: Dambusters - my mate reckons he’ll make it into a three part epic with lots of lingering shots of the crews being trucked across Scampton to dispersals.

Didn’t Neo die in Matrix 3? I’m sure he did.

Turd of a film anyway.

That'd be a shame, doesn't need to be THAT long. 🙁

I know it's a sequel, not a remake, but is there really a single person in the entire world who wants to see another Rambo movie?
