Hopefully, Stoner is cracking on with his healthy eating this morning, and eschewed his usual double helping of pop tarts dipped in treacle for breakfast.

One boiled egg and a coffee and Im ready to go.

I put yesterday into myfitnesspal.

Does it matter that 60% of my calorie intake comes from beer and nuts? 😀

In fact I feel pretty gratified that myfitensspal DEMANDS that I drink beer and eat nuts otherwise apparently I will go into starvation mode and start nibbling my children or something.

He's ridden into town to look for gram flour.

EDIT: he's back already. I bet he drove.

Not really. In fact it's a good thing. As you know exactly what to knock on the head to drop your calorie intake by 60%.

He's ridden into town to look for gram flour.

Force of habit has him looking for it near the pik 'n mix.

I agree, hence Lager is off the list.

Oy. Fatty.

I have also been avoiding riding etc with real life, comfy sofas and excuses. I rode with a much fitter friend on trails he knows backwards and got my arse handed to me on a plate. My lungs felt like rejected transplants and it was the wake up call I needed.
Ride, fatboy, ride!

I went for a ride with Mrs Stoner yesterday.
After the first 2 miles I said "if you keep up that work rate, you're doing the next 20 miles on your own".

To be fair, she had just come second in a local triathlon last weekend, whereas I had managed to polish off a Morrisions Special Offer lattice pork pie. I reckon it wasnt a fair fight from the start, she didnt stand a chance.

That's the thing I've missed most this week. Pork pies. The 'mericans just don't understand them 😥

A bit of the 5/2 diet, or more realistically the 6/1 or 5.5/1.5 diet always works wonders for me if I'm trying to lose a few pounds. That in combination with getting out on the bike of course.

..... blah blah blah.......

This is not going to go well is it Stoner? 😕

Try two eggs for breakfast. Just had a omlette - two eggs, little cheese, tomato and a bit of chorizo. That will see me through to lunchtime with just the addition of a couple of coffee's.
Favourite breakfast is kippers (nothing added). Two of those will fill me up until about 3pm

When you next weigh in, don't forget to have a pee, poo, shave, clip your finger and toenails, take off your wedding ring and hold your breath 😆

Exhale surely?

Unless you had just inhaled some helium.

Im interested in this to as I realistically need to lose around 25kgs over the next couple of years.

people mention cutting out carbs but what do you replace them with??

This is me......

If Im on days at work..

I have cereal for breakfast.cup of tea and a glass of orange juice.

A sandwich at lunch if Im on days (ham cheese and coleslaw)bag of crisps and a 2 finger kitkat.

plus an evening meal.

I drink lots of water through the day.

On nights.....

cereal around 13:00 plus cup of tea.

normal meal consisting of rice or pasta with veg and either tuna or chicken(quite a big meal)between 19:30 and 21:30

cup of tea when I get in around 03:00

What can I cut out there and what can I replace it with??

Lunch today was lettuce, beetroot, tomato and slices of ham. SO according to myfitnesspal 400g for only 186 calories.

I had no idea you could consume so few calories without trying.

Breakfast came to 83 calories.

after my ride just now, apparently Im -492 calories for the day - i.e. I need to go and consume a further 2712 calories at dinner tonight. That's 12 pints and a bag of nuts! Woohoo!
What am I missing?

(PS nickc, we know where this is going to end up, don't we 😉 )

You don't cut them out, you cut out *high GI* carbs. Which is anything starchy, really.

There's carbs in vegetables, including root veg, and beans and lentils. That's where you get them from.

Hmmm 😕 If I'm right then the only decent bits in there are the cheese and ham!
Cereal is a no-no also as it's just wheat so the same as bread and pasta 🙁
How about a tin of soup of lunch, or some salad with salad beans, tuna, chicken, etc?
If you just cut out the lunchtime bread you're eating 30g less carbs immediately. Crisps are probably another 30g also.
I'm not really fussed about calories too much now - but I do look at the carbs in pretty much everything.

Normally I just have coffee. The egg was a terrible, terrible mistake. I feel so fat, I hate myself now 😉

I had no idea you could consume so few calories without trying.

I used MyFitnessPal while doing the iDiet a couple of years ago; despite stuffing myself silly it said I was eating way under the calories I needed and that I'd weigh next to nothing in no time.

Instead, I dropped to 65kg and then stayed there regardless of how much (iDiet) food I ate or how much exercise I did.

Boiled eggs, pair of for brekkie. Keeps you going till lunch time, and even then I find I eat less at lunch.

<whispers> I do have a couple of slices of Vogel with them though. Boiled eggs need toast.

That and running. It's a harsh truth, but it works.

you need to ride the bike more - go further not faster

porridge made with water for the best diet breakfast option

drink halves in the pub

ditch the pies, takeaways, fast food

Yes.
I need 60 days to prove that my weight going up is actually part of a falling trend 😀

Ive only managed to lose 3Kg so far, and keep it off. Nothing amazing, but then I've not being trying too hard... However, I have also appeared to have lost nearly 2" off the belly belissimo which does seem to suggest that dodging processed carbs in favour of veg and protein does seem to have more of an impact on fat than on mass.

Pleased to hear that it’s moving in the right direction and belly size is definitely more important than overall weight.

3kg in three weeks is pretty good going I think. I'm down 12kg since mid January. I've still a fair way to go too but measurements and photos (yes really) can help with tracking progress and boosting the ego a little. I can see the weight loss in my pictures especially the profile shots.

Hey Mark - Re: Coffee Post, don't drive, ride to Ross to get it 🙂 That MFP is one poorly named app - it really should go by the name of 'AWAY WITH THE PIE HAND FATSO'. I remember people asking why something so 'good' could be free. It's essentially two things a) MFP are probably selling your data to your health insurance company and b) you'd have to be a screaming mentalist to actually pay money for it.

Having said that, I used it to lose 10kg between Jan 1 and Mar 20 last year and kept it off since. Whenever I pretend my metabolism has somehow revererted to my 20 year old self, thereby crashing open the gates of gluttony, a month with that app is pretty all that is needed to prove otherwise.

I didn't miss the beer so much. But I had cheese cravings that verged on the delusional.

Good luck with it. You've got some nice big hills to ride up 🙂
