No one should ever have to experience the death of a child. Breaks my heart, but at least his story is one of courage and selfless action.

Rest in peace kiddo.

A bright light, long may his personality and memory shine, takes a special person to reach that many with such positivity. Great loss.

Very sad news, such a brave lad and a fighter.

At least his memory will live on and he has made a great impact on this world.

Very sad and I hope the people that took to social sites (claiming he was a con) when he was briefly released from hospital now feel utterly ashamed of themselves.

Sad yes, but on the other hand, strangely triumphant don't you think?

Reminds me of a conundrum that a friend raised once - "If the point of life is happiness and achievement, what does the actual length of it matter?"

Such an incredible boy.
I am amazed at how much courage these young people have in the face of death.
He reminds me a lot of my niece, always positive ,and was helping to raise money for TCT ,until just before she died .
She never reached her 18th birthday.

It is a good point Whoppit, but try asking that question of his mother and father and see what response you get.

It wasn't until I became a parent that the horror of losing a child ever became apparent. I'm not saying you have to have children to understand that, just that I didn't.

His parents must be very proud but so utterly heartbroken.

Damn it. Bit dusty in here. Parents must be shattered, but so incredibly proud.

Don't quite know how you can be shocked when a terminally ill man dies but I am still shocked. He may have been very young but a true man died today. Condolences to friends and family.

Very inspiring lad. In a a different sense than it's usual usage he chose to burn out rather than fade away. An amazing use of his last few years of life.

I could never be as brave as he seemed and I would have been terrifically proud if I had known him. Thinking of his friends and family right now.

I do hope mr Cameron was not using this tragedy to get his compasionate face in the media before the Elections. I'm sure even he would stoop that low.
