Nah, the problem is clearly southerners who come up and try to drive on the single-lane A-roads of the north as if they were the 5-lane motorways of the south.

Last time I drove through Up North on my way to Yorkshire then Edinburgh, it was a nightmare. The standard of driving was absolutely shocking!

Really? I was promised mighty roads with no traffic and solid gold crash barriers as far as the eye could see.

Shirley the issues are:

Density of population near lots of "fun" roads.
Promotion of those roads in motorbiking magazines etc.
Along with state of roads themselves.

Still don't see how Scotland has the worst roads yet none in that list.

The tarmac running out at Leicester Forest services tends to catch some people out.

I commute in on one of those A675
Actullay no the description is wrong the a675 is the belmont road so I can only assume we loose a number of boy racer stoned saxo drivers in some sort of Darwinian act on that stretch I commute on A 674 so much safer phew but the long way home involves this road
A581 is fairly straight assume they drive like loons there as well then. Big and wide so always fine cycling on this
Exact stats anyone?

not sure the FFS was required but I do commend your encyclopedic knowledge of small northern towns/enclaves

The problem is that the A61 Barnsley to Wakefield - South/West Yorkshire has those cats eyes on in that are lit all the time. You just want to turn your lights off and drive...its like an episode of Buck Rogers when the space ships take off.......

.....or so i've been told

Please dont drive with your lights off, its silly and unsafe!!
