A bit early in the year I know, but who on earth is in the frame to win this year?
I can't think of anyone who would warrant it...no tennisists, no (road) cyclists, no footballers, no cricketers, no rugbyers.
Someone who does really well in that high-end school sports day the Commonwealth Games?

Any golfists or horses doing well?

Won't happen, but it should go to Michael Dunlop. Has had a blinding couple of years.

I guess it's Peaty's year then clean sweep of the last few rounds then win in Norway?

I'd probably pay a lot of money to see Josh Bryceland do an acceptance **** ME!

So safe bet Commonwealth Games, Sir Brad?

Michael Dunlop

I'd like to see that.

If Hamilton can beat Rosberg this season then he'd surely be a nailed on certainty for SPOTY.

Except for the fact his "personality" comes across as pretty obnoxious ๐Ÿ˜‰

He's not to everyone's taste but at least he has some personality!

Really should be renamed "Sports Person Of The Year"

How long has it been going? And people STILL go on about the "Personality" bit of the title??

Hamilton will walk it if he wins the title, if not it will be Froch or perhaps someone who lights up the Commonwealth games. If the latter, don't bet against Wiggo, if he gets a medal or 2 he will be in the running.

Given that much of the mainstream sports haven't seen much in the way of standout performances, it would be nice to see a more diverse SPOTY.
