I'd have the first one - you're buying a house, not the decor.

Only thing missing is a snooker room - I've always wanted a snooker room! 🙂

For those looking for a more contemporary style, this one just up the coast, might be more your cup of tea.

Firstly - they need more logs! 😳

Secondly - give it a few years and that sea view will be gone once the trees have grown.

It’s a mishmash of Ye Olde-looking Crap from different periods and then a bunch of furniture from the big box retailer opposite B&Q in the same room.

This is literally the same as all those massive Landowner's houses built (or extended) in the 18thC. They bought all their furniture form Hepplewhite or Chippendale from catalogues, all the crockery from Whieldon (or if you were noveau; Wedgewood) from pointing at drawings in catalogues from London Showrooms, like y'know like; Argos. Everything else was hand-me-downs.  Even the libraries were stuffed with ready made "collections" it's doubtful they read many of them.

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

To be fair a lot of these houses are small change compared to the UHNW stuff.

I underwriter architects PI and sometimes get asked to look at a larger practice.  Interior refit sir.  Certainly sir.  Your budget sir?  Ah £120m - we'll draw up the plans accordingly sir.

£120m.  For an interior refurb?!

There are a couple of houses for sale around Alderley Edge at the moment advertised as "Arts and Crafts". I have no doubt they were that when built and very nice too but they have had all evidence of Arts and Craft removed and replaced with cool Scandinavian white. Very disappointing.

Oh and I thought this was a bargain until until I realised it was only a 2 bed flat within the building (nice flat though).

I'll have this one, then spend 1million doing it up and the other 6 on coke and hookers!

I BASICALLY WANT A LIBRARY WITH LADDERS ON RUNNERS AND POSSIBLY A NARROW SPIRAL STAIRCASE CONSTRUCTED TASTEFULLY INTO THE CORNER OF THE ROOM.

WITH A SECRET DOOR TO THE TUNNEL TO THE HIDDEN COVE WHICH OPENS WHEN YOU PULL 'THE JEEVES OMNIBUS'.

With a name like that, and the flagpole, you just know it was once owned by some admiral (retd) who occasionally used to fire his ceremonial cannon across the river.

Yebbut when you see those leatherbound book series you know they've read FA. The rest look like airport novels or a job lot of shelf fillers from the charity shop. I bet that ladder hasn't moved since it was put there. I could happily help them out testing their wine cellar for duds though.

It looks so much better in the photos than it does in real life – but I've not been inside and it does look gorgeous! And The Pilchard Inn is a lovely little place.

As a family we'd go to Portlemouth in the summer (at the invitation of the sailing club there) which is opposite Salcombe. I'm pretty sure some-one used to fire a cannon when it was gin-o-clock

Looked at Matt_Outandabout’s suggestion and it’s  size in sq. metres is about equivalent to a decent sized family home in sq. feet. That makes it roughly ten times larger….crikey!

Looks like a lovely building with questionable decor. Even if I had the money I’d not be interested in somewhere of that size. I like cosy. Log cabin miles away from anyone would be my first choice. I would love a big library with a massive ladder though. Would sit and read or invite friends around to recreate library escape scenes from movies that involve the ladder.

Don't forget the 10acres of land, pond, swimming pool and more.
Big/expensive houses are much better value than small/cheap houses...
