Cos I've got another tractor toy 🙂
It's particularly good for odd shaped gnarly bits that would be tough to use the maul on.

That looks like a nice toy but just an observation.. it doesn't look too " back friendly "

Wood 😀 it not be better if the platform was higher ?

Edit: and V8 power would get you more coolness points 8)

He would need to build a ramp to reverse his tractor up though

There's something soporific about a diesel engine running just above idle.

I'd like something a little higher off the ground to save my back.

You'll be needing one of these too.

I'll second Muke, by back would be half dead after an hour on that. you'd be better off lifting it up a bit.

Yes I agree, its too low at the moment. It's effectively a table so it's sitting on the ground right now but I'm going to adapt it so it will fit on the tractors 3 point hitch - I can then have it at any height.
Only cost £140 off eBay (plus £90 for a new tip ), they normally go for about £400 second hand so I'm happy.
Tractor sits there doing 940 rpm, which gives a pto speed of about 300rpm.... I was slightly concerned about getting the engine to run slow enough. If you run the pto too fast the cone will turn into a drill and just make holes in the wood!

You'll be there all week at that rate.

You're right, once I get used to it I should be able to get a much better throughput. I think ideally you have two people to keep up with it.

Looks good that SB. I guess you sorted the tip out in the end.

Just be careful with that though, I've heard a few horror stories about cone splitters.
3 things to think about.

1. Gloves
2. Where is the accessible engine cut out?
3. I'd not be going near it with long sleeves on.

Have fun!

Gloves - you don't wear them as they can get caught up without you being aware - you can feel if your fingers touch something they shouldn't
Engine cut out - if you look carefully in the video you might see a red line hanging down, this is connected to the PTO lever and is easy to disengage. Stopping a big diesel isn't easy and certainly nowhere near as quick.
Long sleeves - are OK as long as they aren't baggy and hang down too much

Having fun 🙂

One of our chaps has a couple of these - ace things.
Mind, he also has this set up for larger chunks of wood...and another 8 Masseys of one kind or another, one with huuuuuuuuge circular saw on. 8)

Oh, and your table needs to be higher so you do not bend down as much.
