[#9556417]

So last weekend my knee went POP when out on the bike, Sharp pain at the time but mostly uncomfortable for most of the rest of week.

Yesterday I ran 100m and it was properly painful.

Today it's still a mild pain, but more than last week's discomfort.

Is the GP likely to shed more light /help on it more than "rest till better"

Had ITB issues a few years ago and wasn't rectified till I went to private physio who diagnosed and gave excersizes / massages to make better.

Would prefer to minimise down time for fairly obvious reasons...

Personally, I'd be straight to a private physio if speed is of the essence.

I would rest it and rub in Ibuprofen gel three times a day.

Ibuprofen gel is just snake oil isn't it?

I guess I'll try and find a sports physio for a poke & a prod.

Cheers

A GP is a generalist, a physio a specialist, so a physio is more than likely what you need. Many trusts allow you to 'self-refer' now- which basically means you phone them up and get an appointment that way, rather thru a GP, which normally means you'll get seen quicker, however possibly not as quick as going private

Saw my gp for my sore knee last week, MRI 5 days later, results in another few days. The NHS can be brilliant, YMMV, obviously. (Meniscus tear and bone bruising for me.......)

We all love the NHS but I found them and my GP(practice theres no GP singular) pretty poor with a physio ailment and I'm now getting sorted privately.
