Anyone else think they were fkn ace ?
Anyone else think Thurston hasn't aged at all ?
Anyone else think Kim Gordon would still ......yeah you know... ?

And when they did "Teenage Riot" a little bit of wee came out.

That is all.

Will watch on Iplayer...

Love Sonic Youth, managed to get my ten year old daughter into them too! She insists on Daydream nation on the car CD (minus the swearies)

All the other kids in her class like High school musical and Hannah Montana!

Tried to get tickets to see them at the Scala but they sold out quicker than any other gig we've been to (or rather haven't been to in this case)

Saw them do their new one, didn't know they were going to do Teenage Riot too so I went to bed when Lily Allen came on. ๐Ÿ™

Kim Gordon - I don't want to seem fussy, but she looks like she's sucking a lemon.

Saw it this morning and thought the same thing, nothing lost over time!
They still pushed all my buttons.
I'm off to throw my guitar against a wall and go looking for a golden studded glove! ๐Ÿ˜€

The best blag of my life was seeing Sonic Youth do Daydream Nation in the roman amphitheatre at Ostia Antica outside Rome a couple of summers ago. It was completely sold out, but I went sketching in the ruins in the day, then hid out for a couple of hours after the site shut to visitors - wandered straight into the concert.
Epic.

fantastic, reminds me why i love them so much especially when you consider they're all about 50, not lost any of their fire or experimentation.

Just had to trawl on i-player through Lillt Allen plugging her latest pile of shee-ite - basically why i don't watch Jools anymore

Probably one of the greatest bands ever who only aged but never allowed it to deteriorate their performance or taste threshold.. having seen them on Joolz here they are in 1992 with Jools playing Sugar Kane. .also proving what a damned fine show Mr Holland still runs compared to the deteriorating music press.

Youth - Sugar Kane live on Jools Holland 1992
[url=

first TV Appearance on Letterman

check out how the quality has not deteriorated over the years.. don't try this comparison test with U2 or any Metal band ๐Ÿ™‚

Bah, they cut the intro short, plus poor sound quality ๐Ÿ™

Still great though, blasting out Daydream Nation, goosebumps arriving...

Can't say I've managed to 'keep up' with the Youth. They used to be my fave band (back in the day).

Never understood the reverence for daydream as I always preferred the whitey album (I had both on back to back tape off my mate Euan at Fast on pre-release).

Thurston is ****in tall though, as in really tall.

Ah, my claim to fame was being so overawed at meeting Kim all I could manage to say was 'you kind of sucked tonight...' which was sort of true as Mudhoney did blow them off the stage. Yeah that went down well!

And still got a soft spot for Susanne Sesnic (the other cool rock chick) too ๐Ÿ˜ณ even if her glittery pants (as in trousers) were, well, pants.

I think I like Goo best.

One of the few bands who got better when they "sold out", possibly.

Must admit I lost interest after Evol but, for all those that didn't: an admittedly great video.
