By stove I mean for heating only.
My house is early sixties. There is a boarded over flue in the wall that once dealt with the old gas fire. In the loft the flue is exposed, like a large zinc? flexible duct. This comes out of the roof through what is more of a vent - certainly not a chimney.
Could this be utilized or exchanged for something that would enable me to have a solid fuel fire fitted?
I was thinking of a free standing fire.

You will likely need a new solid double wall stainless flue fitting. Big bucks though
