Looks like we've just bought a house. yay!
It's got solar panels on the roof and they were put on when the repayment rate was 45p per unit. The current owners reckon £900-£1100 a year. Does that sound about right?
There's 16 panels in total. They reckon the contract is tied to the property so we'll also get 45p per unit apparently. Is that right too?
ta.
We are about £100 more than that. On what sounds like a similar system. I'm really interested to know what others get as we have ours on a flat roof and not at the best angle to the sun. Think they get longer exposure that compensates for the less efficient ray contact. Was thinking about raising them if the generation is way out.

Depend on the size of the installation. I have 27 panels (3.99kW peak) and its returned in the first year circa £1600 plus £250 of electricity saving.
Have 3.75kw of panels over two aspects if the roof. Since 30th August last year they've generated 1075kw. Much of which has gone in to our hot water tank through a special gadget that powers the immersion heater (but only uses electricity from the panels)
Dont know the figures money wise, but we're on the 21p tariff. Our savings would include using less gas. As we hardly ever have the water heating any more.
Depends on the power of the array, shade and where in the country you are. Let me know and I'll tell you accurately but A south facing 4kw system will deliver approx 3200kWh/annum. £1000 seems light for a 4kW array, but it depends what they have installed.
Make sure the seller transfers the Feed In Tariff (FIT) contract to you, it's not automatic. A seller could keep the panels and the FIT, and pay rent to the buyer for the roof space; sounds like your seller is including them in the sale so I hope your solicitor has that it in the contract.

[puts hand up really high]
please could you tell me what that gadget is please please?
Thanks Smudger (and others).
The house is in the North West, the main array faces West on an angled roof and the smaller array faces south on an angle. They say about five years old.
Thanks for the advice on the solictor too. We've already talked about this to the vendors who say they will do this but you're right, it's a good idea to get it covered in the contract.
