Spurs ticking along nicely, best start in 51 years. The Man City game is shaping up to be an interesting encounter and hard to call the result.

I haven't seen much Spurs football this season, but if I was a betting man, I'd suggest that they will attack City and get picked off. It will depend on a few factors, but I'd call a 1-3 result right now.

Would prefer 0-0 though! 🙂

I think Bilic will be the new Martinez, flattered by his first year taking over the disciplined side of his predecessor and giving them some more freedom, but as that discipline slips into history his own coaching will be found short.

Thats a big call MSP! I think there are a few factors at play here leading to a loss of confidence, but he will turn it round one way or another. Only to mid table though.

😆

Leicester looking good. Got them for the win, and Slimini as first goalscorer 🙂

Watching MOTD has just summed up what is up with Engerland. Troy Deeny scored again. He's been banging them in for fun. But they ask why he doesn't get an Engerland call up?

The answer from Shearer 'well obviously Sturridge is in front of him.."

Why?!! WTF?!!! Sturridge is made of balsa wood, and is now a peripheral player at Liverpool, who doesn't warrant a start, because he's shit, and the only reason he got a game today was because Lallana went off injured. So he came on, got booked for blatantly diving, then did what....?

But he's first choice because he plays for Liverpool (ocassionally), not Watford

Sturridge isn't shit though is he. Out of form yes , but I agree Deeny should be in with a shout

Klippity doesn't seem to think he warrants a place in his starting 11, and has been critical of his attitude. Doesn't look a happy bunny, does he? 😆

[img] [/img]

Yet he's still being seen as an automatic starter for Engerlands upcoming qualifiers. Its the same attitude that saw Jack Wilshere, who hadn't played 90 minutes of football all season, to the Euro's. When Danny Drinkwater, who'd started every game, and been outstanding, for the team that won the premiership, stayed at home.

Is it any wonder they're so comically awful?

Anyway... back to proper football..... today should be interesting. Which United turn up? No doubt we'll make hard work of Stoke.

And City v Spurs should be an absolute Belter. Can't see anything other than City walking it this season, but if anyones going to keep them in check then Spurs have to be in with a shout

Fair play to Spurs they outplayed City and deserved their result. The own goal was a bit unfortunate but I cannot argue that City deserved anything from the game.

De Bruyne was a big miss although hopefully when Gungodan gets up to speed we will not rely on him so heavily.

Spurs look very strong even without Kane. The pace they played at was impressive although some of their players are unnecessarily narky (especially when 2 up).

Shaping up to be a memorable season.

Burnley were absolutely bloody robbed tonight. There's no way the Arse deserved 3 points from that game. Burnley had the measure of them and the better of the chances. And the goal, with the final 'kick' of the game was a blatant handball, and offside anyway. There's no way it should have stood!

Ahem....I think Burnley were very negative and as a result didn't deserve anything, but what an odd goal! Was waiting for the whistle that never came.

I don't think it is fair to call teams like Burnley negative, they play the only tactic available to them, defend deep as a team and hope to nick a goal from a set piece or a bit of luck. It is up to the teams at the top to break them down.

I thought city missed Nolito as much as DeBruyne, he hasn't got as much plaudits as he deserves so far. Even from the players available to him, I don't think Guardiola got his team selection right, would have preferred Gungodan and Sane to start, and the other full backs would probably brought more energy to the game.

This. Play an open game against Arsenal and they'll take you apart. So you do what Burnley did. Stop them playing their preferred game and try and hit them on the counter, and maybe nick a set piece. Its up to Arsenal to come up with an alternative. But they showed they had no Plan B. When Burnley had the ball I didn't see an Arsenal player attempt a single challenge all match. There was no pressure at all.

A pretty poor Arsenal performance, with some truly woeful passing, certainly didn't deserve the 3 points. That goal should never have stood. A clear handball AND offside.

Same for United. Stoke set up the same way, defended well, if a bit desperately at times, soaked up all the attacks, and scored with their only shot on target all match. Burnley did the same to Liverpool a few weeks back.

You know what you're going to get from these teams. Its rubbish to watch. But its effective.

Great finish from Kos and 3 points was never In doubt 🙂

Wasn't great from Arsenal but oh well , they won. Unlike Utd of course who played 'beautifully' and dropped two points . Spuds did well, good to see City drop points

Re tackles , not true really

27.7 -Tackles per game Arsenal average this season (11th in the League)
25 – Tackles Arsenal attempted against Burnley
18.7 – Tackles Arsenal win per game on average this season
18 – Tackles Arsenal won against Burnley

Tackles table :
https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/total_tackle?se=54

Of course it's all damn lies and statistics

Yeah of course, we see this every week from the lower level teams and their work rate, organisation and desire is all very admirable, but what if everyone played like that. It doesn't make much of a spectacle and you can understand how teams run out of ideas trying to get through such well organised defences.

Anyway, we got away with it and the table is looking much healthier this morning...albeit with the Spuds above us! 😳

An England manager has eventually been brave enough to drop Rooney, thank heavens for small mercies.

Life is too short to watch Engerland qualifiers, so I just flicked on the 'highlights' at half time.

Woeful! As always!

Sturridge's Tom Daley impressions really are cringeworthy, aren't they? He really should start coming on in his Speedo's

I'm not watching it, occasionally pop over to the Beeb sport site. It's coming across there like it's pretty dire in Slovenia and the Scottish goalie is preventing a telephone numbers score line.

How about player ratings based on their body art?

Someone forgot to tell the young lad to take his gloves off. That's a bit mean. When will he realise?

Southgate ain't getting the job on these showings, calling them headless chickens would be an insult to the chickens. You have to wonder if they have a brain cell between them.

And yet comfortably top of the group with no goals conceded. Away draw ends run of 14, yes 14, successive qualifying victories. Try supporting Scotland! Utter pish.

So who's going to win the big match on Monday then? If Liverpool win as they are expected to, poor old Jose will start to get the LVG treatment. City have proved they're human in their past two matches, so is this North Londons best chance ever in recent years?

Jose will get some limited time, as did LvG

Defeat is not critical but the manner will be

Ie like the first half v city = in trouble
Like the second half = well sometimes that happens in football

I hope its a boring 0-0 mainly because i wont be watching

I suspect it could be a goal fest as their defence is poor and their attack great

From an Arsenal point of view not sure what I want on Monday. Probably a draw or United win . However if Utd lose they will be a way off the top already. All good things

Liverpool under Klopp remind me of Newcastle under Keegan. Great to watch, and they always score, but ropey at the back. It could be anything tomorrow. Apart from nil nil

I suspect Jose will start with Fellaini, play pretty direct and bank on Liverpool's dodgy set piece defending. If he does start him he'll be short odds for a red card though!
