So I am not up on technology but my 4 year old normal Motorola is on it's last legs so contemplating an upgrade. I am in Canada and most of the choices seem to be smart phones. Really only going to be using it for text, checking mail and calls. Not interested in I-phone hype or latest Galaxy etc, etc
So htc something, nokia lumina?, older samsung? Or does not really matter? Any that I should avoid? Any websites that provide few reviews...
I wouldn't get a HTC Wildfire S, I had one and the battery life was terrible, wouldn't even last me a day at work with light use.
Can stretch my iPhone5 to two days if needed!
The older iPhone 3G I was using due to the HTC battery being crap was ok, 3 days between charges but shows its age with the speed taken to open some applications.
Samsung S2 can be had cheaply and with latest android OS. Quite a nice small smartphone of you don't put a cover on it
If I was considering a smartphone at the moment I'd look into the Google Nexus 4.
Got an HTC Desire C because they are really cheap and run Androids latest OS (or did at the time). Unless you are NEVER in a rush I would avoid it. Not actually a bad phone (although a really bad camera) but can get a bit/very sluggish if you are doing much fun stuff...
edit- +1 for a Nexus 4, if it is anything like my Nexus 7 it will be great.
Thanks. Bump for the day time crowd...
Try just going into a shop and playing with a few, see what you get on with? Kinda difficult to recommend anything other than "what I bought" with such generic requirements; if all you want is phone, SMS and email then your choice is pretty much anything.
Maybe a Blackberry would be best suited for you. Relatively basic compared to the latest and greatest Androids and iDevices, but stellar battery life and ideally suited for text. Plus, hey, RIM is Canadian, you can support local industry.
