"Dad, can I chat to you for a second...."

He's 22, couldn't ask for a better lad and his girl friend is lovely too.

Just told my partner she is now going out with a granddad!

Me? Shock,a little worry and excitement all in one.

I'm 50 but feel a little older now.lol 😆

Hearty congrats.

It's amazing. 🙂

I inherited two step daughters many years ago and am now a granddad to six year old and eighteen month old girls.

Never particularly fussed about kids of my own, but apart from meeting my Mrs, it's the best thing that's ever happened to me.

I can teach you the Grandad Boogie as soon as they're of an age to be terminally embarrassed?

I never knew my own grandparents, they died long before I was born. But I get it now.

Good times fella.

My daughter was 20 when we had the same chat. Granddaughter is now 8 and also have a grandson who is 4.

It’s fantastic. I was worried when first told (felt she was too young and still at uni). She took a year out and then went back and finished, couldn’t be more proud of her.

Congratulations. Apparently 49 is the average age to become a grandparent, which worried me as I'm 50 and kids are 16 and 12!

Just be there for them when they need you. My mother in law drove us nuts when she finally got grandkids, but has been a rock, and they have great memories of time with her although she is frail and a little confused at times.

My mother was a cow from the minute I told her we were expecting, and although she's got a lot better in recent years it's scarred our relationship.

49, and have a nearly 19 year old and a 16 year old. Not planning on being a grandad for a while yet. Took the micky out of my SIL when she was a granny in her mid 50's.

Better to be a grandparent in your 50's than dealing with young kids & ageing parents at the same time in your 40's 😉
